At least you didn't blame Russia or Putin for once. These "confederate states" that you reference are the same ones that people from NY and California are moving to in droves? Do people move their families to other states in the belief that these states are worse than the ones they are fleeing? LOL. What a TDS fantasy world you are living it. People are literally voting with their feet (to give you a thrill by paraphrasing Lenin). They are fleeing the disasters created by decades long liberal rule in places like California and NY. Crime, taxes, illegal aliens, homeless encampments. An intentional catastrophe to make as many people downtrodden and reliant on the government for handouts as possible
Your counter factual description of California reminds me of the classic complaint about the restaurant that the complainer says sucks because it is always so crowded and noisy!
You ignored my well supported arguments against execution and high incarceration…. They are not deterents but instead are more expensive and counterproductive compared to results in states with no executions and dramatically less per capita incarceration rates.
The least safe states are red states. The red state governments focus on “solving” problems that do not exist at a level that made it at all reasonable to prioritize them!
AT LEAST 12 state governments are not second guessing pediatricians, Ob-Gyns, librarians. or scientific consensus because it is not reasonable for legislators to focus on contradicting what is beyond the expertise of the average red states legislator.
Cost of living is heavily influenced by demand. There must still be enough demand for New York or California residence, both much safer than almost any red state, to maintain housing price and income levels.
I know of a couple who moved ten years ago at onset of retirement age from western CT to North GA. She had taught school and he was a self employed handy man. There was no property tax break in CT for homeowners with net annual income below $25k. In GA, senior homeowners with that income limit get the school tax portion of their property tax waived. They pay $1050 annually on their home currently market priced at $600,000 which rose 50% in price in ten years, while younger and wealthier neighbors over 65 pay $7,000 annual tax. The GA county they reside in has 15th highest average household income in the U.S.
None of those points changes that the GA Republican controlled state government reaps what it sows. It is a malpractice disaster as far as legislative focus compared to CT’s state gov. BTW, the waiving of school tax on homes of low income retirees shifts the cost to all other homeowners.
