JFK Facts, assassination researcher Jeff Morley's shop, is very predictable in relentlessly presuming that the CIA played a role in the JFKA, when not dog-whistling that maybe actually it was Mossad who master-minded the plot.
They have never made a compelling case for the former argument, while the latter narrative seems plucked from thin air, or perhaps was fabricated to satisfy sponsors.
But the
JFK Facts team is knowledgable, and cover the topic, and on 9/16 they said this:

It is known from US JFK records releases that the KGB chief in Minsk identified LHO as asset during his stay in Russia, though it is unclear how the Minsk KGB'er regarded LHO thereafter.
Former CIA Director James Woolsey went further and identified LHO as a KGB asset, perhaps one that was brainwashed by Russians, in his 2021 book
Operation Dragon: Inside the Kremlin's Secret War on America.I would say a former CIA director has more cred than the usual JFKA buff.
Lately, researcher John Newman identified LHO as working for CIA'er Bruce Solie, who himself was a KGB mole or asset. CIA'er Tennent Bagley thought that LHO had been a "witting asset" of the CIA, and further suspected Solie's loyalties. The CIA of the 1950s and 1960s has been described as riddled with KGB assets.
Was LHO a de facto CIA asset? Who knows?
President LBJ instructed the WC to find out no such thing.
It is worth pondering why the Russian docs on LHO have not been released. Of course, who would trust such docs anyway?
Who knows if there are any G-2 or DGI files in Havana on LHO, and what they say?
We are, in large part, still flying blind on the JFKA.
JFKA Researchers have been barking up the CIA tree on the JFKA for six decades, and have not really chased the possum down.
