Wow, "they" even got to Ruth's family ... nah, this was probably written (a few months ago) on a keyboard at Langley ...

I'm a member of Ruth's family, and I guarantee you that she is a devout Quaker, and an unusually honest, generous, and indeed naive woman. I've been close to her for decades, though I was a small child at the time of the assassination. Her marriage to Michael was falling apart during the early 60s, and in fact they divorced not long after. She raised her two children as a single mother, and worked as the principal of a Quaker school in Pennsylvania and later as a school psychologist in Florida. She has been active in Quaker causes all her adult life. As she says, she is an extremely independent person. There's no possibility that she would have helped the CIA in any way at any time in her life, because it would not have lined up with her politics or her ethics. In fact, throughout her life she's been one of the most strictly ethical people I've ever known, even going so far as withholding taxes (in escrow) so as not to contribute to military spending. If she has a significant fault, it is her earnest naivety and over-generosity, which led her into this calamitous situation.

Does the CT community actually not realize what utter fools they make themselves when they decide to make Ruth Paine - RUTH PAINE??? - into a dark and evil figure? This is the JFKA counterpart to UFO lunacy of the level "Queen Elizabeth was actually a shape-shifting reptilian alien."

Although it's a big HOOT, you really should stay away from that UFO stuff.

Lance: Where was that published?

It was kind of humorous. I was searching for philosophical material on "epistemic vices." Google led me to, of all things, a glowing review of "The Assassination and Mrs. Paine" - !!!. What I posted here was the very first Comment on the article. I looked at the individual's other posts to satisfy myself that this seemed to be genuine. Maybe you can track him or her down. There are also quite a few comments by a guy named Kearney who clearly understands the CT perspective and says he is writing an article on "epistemic vices." Possibly the spirit of Ruth Paine led me to the comment!

Kearney himself wrote a scathing review of "The Assassination and Mrs. Paine" - https://thetvolution.com/2022/12/reviewing-the-warren-commissions-findings-conspiracy-theorists-who-reject-them-and-while-im-at-it-an-asinine-little-movie-the-assassination-mrs-pain/

He hits on exactly what I was thinking: Ruth Paine was so utterly decent, so utterly non-CT material, that the CT mindset simply can't handle someone like her:

The Cult of Conspiracy cannot tolerate Ruth Paine because in the face of their doubts and lies she stands confidently in the truth, because in a world they see manipulated by sinister forces, she not only sees goodness but she acts with goodness.

They hate Ruth Paine because they fear she is stronger than them.  And they’re right.

I find this a despicable movie, and I find a number of those in it despicable.

But the worst offender is Max Good the director who like all CT Cultists advocates: Innocent until I decide guilty.

Au contraire, Mr. KGB Mania Guy. Sixty years of involvement in ufology and other areas of weirdness have given me insights into the JFKA that you and others without such involvement will never have. Mr. Reptilian Alien Guy is David Icke, and his ex-wife happened to be a good friend of one of my best friends who happens to be one of the true luminaries of ufology.

Mr. Icke is sort of the, well, Jim Di Eugenio on steroids of the UFO community:

Icke contends that the universe consists of "vibrational" energy and infinite dimensions sharing the same space. He argues that there is an inter-dimensional race of reptilian beings, the Archons or Anunnaki, which have hijacked the Earth. Further, a genetically modified human–Archon hybrid race of reptilian shape-shifters – the Babylonian Brotherhood, Illuminati or "elite" – manipulate events to keep humans in fear, so that the Archons can feed off the resulting "negative energy". He claims that many public figures belong to the Babylonian Brotherhood and propel humanity towards a global fascist state or New World Order, a post-truth era ending freedom of speech. He sees the only way to defeat such "Archontic" influence is for people to wake up to the truth and fill their hearts with love.

There are a few CTers who are appalled at the allegations. But they are drowned out by the mob, the radicals.

This has been the problem starting with the Garrison claims: the radicals, the Garrisonites, simply shout down the more reasonable types, those that saw through Garrison's abuses. They intimidate them, silence them, accuse them of being CIA agents, of helping the "nutters", et cetera. It's a microcosm of the political/online debate we have between the MAGA Right and the Woke Left. It's all name calling and character assaults with little discussion about actual policies or issues.

I have been dismayed, though, at the Evil Ruth Bandwagon, which includes some CTers I would not have expected. An awful lot who aren't as far into the ozone as Michael Griffith nevertheless seem to have dark suspicions and that sort of thing. It all fits with the pattern I've observed over the past few years, of even CTers I once thought to be more or less reasonable revealing themselves to be considerably wackier than I had appreciated.

Of all the unhinged JFK conspiracy theories the notion that Ruth Paine, a Quaker housewife, was the mastermind behind a conspiracy to kill JFK has to rank.  CTers, however, are in a bind since the chain of events that led to Oswald working in the TSBD goes through her and tea parties.  So it must be so, or the chain is broken and their fantasies about a conspiracy disintegrate.

Ruth's family resided in 1930 with a future CIA officer who reported to Bruce Solie. So what?

"Taylor" is a typo for Talbot

....Like Hyde, the Hoke family was also involved in looking for communists. There is a 1955 memo to the CIA’s Office of Security, discussing how William Avery Hyde was back in his hometown of Palo Alto visiting the Hokes. Brought into the circle was Dr. Jenkins and also Taylor Bielefeldt,

Bielefeldt was the CIA chief of the USSR Division of the Foreign Documents Division, who had spent a lot of time with Ruth’s parents William and Carol Hyde in the 1920s and 1930s. Bielefeldt’s division worked with the Joint Publications Research Service, a CIA unit that monitored public documents to study scientific and technical developments in the Soviet bloc.

Several people close to Oswald were also active in the Joint Publications Research Service. These people include legend maker #3 Priscilla Johnson, the NANA reporter in Moscow who befriended the Oswald family; legend maker #4 Richard Snyder, the American consul in Moscow; and the allegedly unwitting Spas Raikin, who greeted the Oswald family when they arrived in New York City from the USSR in 1962.

The 1955 memo mentions that Hoke, Bielefeldt and the aforementioned Dr. Richard Jenkins were all Stanford graduates. Hoke has been described as “a very brilliant person who is not very stable but who is very creative.”

The focus of the 1955 meeting was about Paul and Violet Orr. Both were Communist Party members in the San Francisco Bay Area. Paul had just been harshly interrogated by HUAC earlier that year. Violet had worked in the 1930s in the CP-friendly American League Against War and Fascism, just as Harvey’s informant Elizabeth Bentley had done....

Does anyone have a good argument or even a guess how LHO would have ended up hired at the TSBD when he was hired
if Ruth had never been born?

....When Lee needed a job in Dallas during October, 1963, the Warren Commission says that it was Ruth who set him up working the boxes on the sixth floor of the Texas Book Depository, thanks to a tip from neighbor Buell Wesley Frazier’s sister Linnie Mae Randle. The Book Depository was an ideal spot along the motorcade route for a sniper to take a shot at the President.

Ruth said she bitterly regretted her role in finding Oswald the Book Depository job. I believe that is true, but the Commission ignored Randle’s statement that she did not know of any jobs available at the depository during that time.
https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.html?docId=38#relPageId=255

Furthermore, the Warren Commission suppressed the information that
Quote
Paine hid from Oswald that Robert Adams from the Texas Employment Commission had left a message at her home in an effort to tell Oswald that a job was available with Trans Texas Airways which would have
paid much more money than the Depository job. Paine would not admit receiving that message.

Adams remembered the details of this story in August 1964, after he had for some strange reasons denied telephoning for Oswald when originally quizzed by the Warren Commission in April.
Robert Adams testimony.:

And
https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.html?docId=232800#relPageId=7

There is a phone number in Oswald’s phone book that should be Robert Adams’ number, but it reads as “Robert Odum“. This is beyond Oswald’s normal misspellings. Did Odum have some kind of relationship with Oswald? Was this some kind of Freudian slip?

Odum was all over this case before and after 11/22. I will discuss more of Odum’s post-11/22 actions in the epilogue.

By the end, even the general counsel of the Warren Commission realized something was deeply wrong with the Oswald story

What is particularly interesting to me is how even J. Lee Rankin, the general counsel of the Warren Commission, was forced to conclude in the last month of the investigation that something in the Oswald story was deeply wrong.

Deadlines had come and gone. LBJ had made it clear that the report had to be done by the end of September, well before the 1964 presidential election...

Mrs. Cunningham supports Robert Adams's claim that he called to inform LHO of opportunity to be hiredf as an air cargo handler @ $310 per month.

.....
Ruth Paine was not asked about the call from Robert L Adams until 1968....

A. I can't recall Mr. Adams.

Q. Have you heard of the Texas Employment Commission?

A . Yes .

Q. Well, we looked into it and found that that job paid
nwre than the Book Depository job, so we can't help
wondering and we feel that he would have taken the higher
paying job, although he would not have ....

A. Robert L. Adams?
.....
Q. Robert L. Adams. Its in his note book.

A. Now he called the Paine home and was told ...

Q. He called twice and on each occasion was told that Oswald

was not there. And he indicated that they had a job opening
and this particular job paid more than the job Oswald ended up
taking in the Book Depository. I was wondering if you knew
why, if Oswald did get the message?

A. I don't recall the phone call, but I was thinking that had

there been one ... we were all very interested in his getting
a j ob . ...

Dear Tom "A Beautiful Mind" Scully,

Ruth's family resided in 1930 with a future CIA officer, Talbot Bielefeldt, who reported to probable KGB mole Bruce Solie?

The December 1963 memo by Solie you provided us with says "the Bielefeldt Case" had been "extensively investigated" several years earlier.

Question:

Did the CIA investigate Talbot Bielefeldt and Russophile Ruthie's parents and their associates on suspicion that one or two or [fill in the blank] of them were CIA (sic) agents, or on suspicion that they were something else?

Hmm?

Jeff Morley defecated on himself in public with appearance on the Tucker Carlson show, in which he dog-whistled "Mossad" had waxed JFKA, and that Tel Aviv was now telling Trump what JFK Records Act documents he could release.

I gather Morley, like many other Substackers, is grasping to gather and hold onto paying subscribers.

A tough game for Morley, as the JFKA Industry is a shrinking trade. People who really care about the JFKA are dying off, literally.

Ruth Paine? Probably what you see is what you get. A New England Puritan-stock do-gooder, a type now all but disappeared.

Sure, after the JFKA Paine cooperated with investigative agencies.

What would anybody do? After a murder, you cooperate with investigative agencies.
