New movie: Oswald the Mob patsy

Just what we need, or at least I do ...

A new movie about the JFKA, "November 1963," is scheduled for release later this year. It was made with heavy involvement by the Giancana family and tells the story from the perspective of Sam Giancana. The big star is John Travolta, who plays Johnny Roselli. Actors play Ruby and patsy Oswald, but the list of the cast suggests no one plays JFK or Jackie so perhaps it's all behind-the-scenes stuff. It does, of course, purport to tell the "real story" of the JFKA.

Given how dreadful John Travolta was in the movie about John Gotti, I'm not exactly looking forward to him playing another mobster. He was much better playing a hit man in Pulp Fiction.

I know nothing abut Hollywood economics. I guess it is cheaper to build a set than to film in front of the TSBD.

Seems odd.

That was my thinking as well. I can't remember if the real TSBD still has the original sign over the front door but it seems like they could have put a temporary sign over the door or used AI to generate the sign. Maybe it was a question of getting a permit to block the sidewalk and the street in order to film the scene. I wouldn't think they would have needed long to shoot the scene but what do I know.

The front door is further recessed.
The front doors and door trim are timber.
The lattice on both sides of the front entrance have been replaced with windows.
The four pillars look pretty grotty.
The blue screens on either extreme will be used as digital mattes to fill in the rest of the building.
An off site set means less disruption and more control.

It was apparently all filmed in Manitoba, Canada.
