As the CIA’s primary mole hunter and Counterintelligence Chief James Angleton’s confidant, mentor, and mole-hunting superior, probable KGB mole Bruce Leonard Solie in CIA's Office of Security hid the security files on several people from the HSCA.

One of them was Richard Case Nagell, the subject of Dick Russell’s 1992 book, The Man Who Knew Too Much.

The following is the first document in Nagell’s 221-page Office of Security file (RIF: 104-10305-10005)

23 August 1978

MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD

From: Bruce L. Solie
Chief, Security Analysis Group
Subject: Nagell, Richard Case
#264 170

1. This memorandum identifies those Office of Security files which were reviewed by the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) staff members in conjunction with the HSCA's investigation into the deaths of President John F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

2. Under procedures established with the HSCA, certain items of information were not reviewed by HSCA staff members. These items were placed in envelopes, sealed, appropriately identified, and put back into the Security file prior to HSCA's review. Office of Security personnel reviewing these files should maintain the integrity of each envelope below so that interested parties may know what was and what was not reviewed by HSCA staff members. [emphasis added]

3. In some instances, the above files contain material marked in the lower right-hand corner with a green circular dot. This mark should alert Office of Security personnel to the fact that this material was located and placed in the file at the time of the HSCA review and was seen by an HSCA staffer(s). This material should not be removed from the file.

4. Attached to this memorandum is a review sheet which identifies the name of the HSCA reviewer(s) and the date of his review.

5. Questions regarding the above procedure and or the HSCA's review should be redirected to the Security Analysis Group.

. . . . . . .

My comment:

Remember that John M. Newman, author of Oswald and the CIA, wrote in his 2022 book, Uncovering Popov's Mole, that Solie betrayed the U-2's secrets and CIA's spy, GRU Col. Pyotr Popov, to the KGB in January 1957, and that he sent Oswald to Moscow in 1959 as an ostensible "dangle" in a (unbeknownst to James Angleton and Oswald) planned-to-fail hunt for "Popov's U-2 Mole" (Solie) in the wrong part of the CIA -- the Soviet Russia Division -- which mole hunt lasted nine years, protected Solie from being uncovered, tore the Soviet Russia Division apart, and drove Angleton nuts.

It is a puzzle how Solie ever connected to LHO, and if there was a cut-out.

The answer may lie in Japan, where it is possible LHO, a dedicated Marxist, was successfully approached by KGB assets. There has been some buzz about this, the Queen Bee bar, and LHO having a hottie girlfriend out of his league, etc.

Then, the word to go to Russia could have been delivered to LHO, through KGB assets stateside in 1959, who were tight with Solie.

Richard Case Nagell (all three names, 1960s-style!) said LHO had become a KGB asset in Russia, and had been instructed to assassinate JFK, but that the Russians decided to back out of the plan, but LHO persisted.

Nagell always struck me, sadly, as having mental difficulties. Nagell said he was supposed to interdict LHO's JFKA.

The leftie ideologues always say Khrushchev would never have planned to assassinate JFK, the pair of leaders wanted to sing kumbaya.

The kumbaya scenario sets aside that elements within the KGB could well have wanted to perp the JFKA, and that JFK was an ardent and globalist anti-commie, who threatened to go to a nuke war to keep Russian missiles out of Cuba. And does not contemplate that Khrushchev was simply playing JFK. Or trying to.

In late June 1963 JFK stood in Berlin, massive crowds, and said, "And there are some who say in Europe and elsewhere we can work with the Communists. Let them come to Berlin. And there are even a few who say that it is true that communism is an evil system, but it permits us to make economic progress. Lass' sie nach Berlin kommen. Let them come to Berlin."

---30---

Yes, JFK then, and any number of times, referred to communism as an "evil system." JFK was globally charismatic. He started the Green Beret and AID to fight communism, and any other number of programs, and said so. It was JFK who helped form South Vietnam, and then led the US to intervene militarily there.

Solie may have been afraid that links between him and LHO might emerge, if the RCN file was read by a discerning mind.

Forgotten today, and ignored by the ideological left, and by Putin and Tehran-inspired JFKA "researchers," is the LBJ told the WC not to pursue any results that could start a nuke war with Russia.

That would include finding out that LHO was, or had been, a G2 or KGB asset.

If you assume (as I do) that John M. Newman is right in his 2022 book Uncovering Popov's Mole -- that James Angleton's confidant, mentor, and mole-hunting superior, Bruce Leonard Solie, was a KGB mole in the CIA's mole-hunting Office of Security and that he sent Oswald to Moscow in October 1959 as an ostensible "dangle" in a (unbeknownst to Angleton and Oswald) planned-to-fail hunt for "Popov's U-2 Mole" (Solie) in the wrong part of the CIA (the Soviet Russia Division) -- it doesn't necessarily mean that the KGB  encouraged / programmed Oswald to kill JFK.

Shoot (pardon the pun), self-described Marxist Oswald might have gotten tired of being jacked around by both the CIA and the KGB and decided all by him widdle Marxist self to kill JFK and "advance the Dialectic."
