The Girl on the stairs narrative has Vicki Adams claiming that she never told anyone that she saw Lovelady and Shelley on the first floor. That she claimed to Ernest that her WC deposition transcript had been altered by adding the encounter with Lovelady and Shelley to it. That Det. Leavelle lied to her and in his report on his interview of her.

In the lost interview we can hear her say in her own words that she saw Shelley and Lovelady. So, when exactly did she begin discrediting herself? It's rather confusing to me.

I'm surprised you are confused considering it was you who posted the lost interview in which we hear Vicki stating explicitly that she saw Lovelady and Shelley. All her statements up to and including the lost interview are consistent - she saw Shelley and Lovelady. No confusion there.
John Mytton posted the transcript of Adams' testimony on which she had made some really innocuous alterations. On one page we see she made an alteration of a small typo, this page contained her claim that she saw Shelley and Lovelady but she made no alteration to that. So, she was aware that this claim was already in her WC testimony but was happy to leave it there while making a really trivial alteration to the text.. Combined, this is conclusive evidence that, as far as Adams was concerned, she saw Shelley and Lovelady on the first floor approximately 60 seconds after the shooting. This is part of John's Reply#11 of the "lost interview" thread.

Thanks Tim, that was an interesting interview and finally puts to sleep the fact that Vickie saw Lovelady by the elevators on her way out.

Since the dawn of JFKA conspiracy, the CT's have been saying that Vickie's testimony about seeing Lovelady on the first floor must have been changed because she says she "immediately" left the windows of the 4th floor and didn't see Oswald, etc, etc, blah, blah, blah. I remember when you first produced this testimony mentioning Lovelady with Vickie's correction on the same page, and as one, the CT's cried foul!

Ernest claims that she underwent constant harassment and threats as part of a campaign to get her to keep her mouth shut. However, there is some question about the credibility of Ernest himself. I refer you to the interviews of Sandra Styles by Sean Murphy. Also, Ernest has told two different versions of what Dorothy Garner said to him. One, that she did not see the girls entering the stairwell. She only heard them as they made noise on the wooden stairs. The other, that she did see them entering the stairwell.

Up to her interaction with Barry Ernest, Vicki is consistent and adamant that she saw Shelley and Lovelady on the first floor seconds after the shooting. The only alterations to Vicki's testimony were made by Vicki herself and they were really innocuous typos.
I can only speculate as to why she completely changed this part of her account when talking to Ernest, but the campaign of constant harassment and threats seems a likely answer. It must be hard to fear for your life and Ernest was about to reignite this campaign of fear with his book.
