Yet Another Morley Nothingburger

Congresswoman Luna convinced CA Director Ratcliffe to release its file on Herminio Diaz -- whom Rob Reiner claimed was a grassy knoll assassin. Surprise, surprise, there is nothing in the file to sustain the allegation. Morley has come up empty once again.

There's a type of conspiracy equivalent of "Say's Law" - i.e., supply creates demand - where conspiracy promoters like Morley churn this material out day-after-day and it produces customers that want more. Even now some 60-plus years later there's a demand for it. None of this that he sells has anything to do with Dallas that day, the actual event, the shooting. It's simply a endless series of disconnected dots, names, figures that go nowhere; certainly not to Dealey Plaza at 12:30 p.m. He can't get to Dallas with any of this.

Thomas Mallon made this observation in his book "Mrs. Paine's Garage": "Most posters [on the assassination] do not want the case 'solved.' Their goal is to sustain the imagined mystery's eternal life.....The newsgroups are less in the business of spreading the word than repeating writ. They light, not a prairie fire, but a sort of burning circus hoop through which the same gaudy villains and dupes are coaxed to jump, again and again."

Morley has figured out that if you supply new villains you can keep the demand for the burning hoop alive.

Indeed, and it's a shame, because he used to produce really well-researched and compelling work (ie., his Win Scott book "Our Man in Mexico"). Lumping yourself in with the clown show that is Doug Horne, Jim DiEugenio and Rep. Luna is doing him no favors.

Doug Horne has done excellent work dating back to his ARRB days. He did bring us the previously unknown Dino Brugioni and the Covert Briefing Board sessions. And his current work which unearthed those Bethesda Morgue Photos are bringing light to a previously unknown area that was actually ground zero on the night of 11/22/63. Trashing Horne means he is once again, "on the scent".

Morley has done some good research, but he has been desperate to come up with something lately. He has overplayed the importance of recent document releases (or maybe he is just too deep into the JFKA, so a wrinkle looks like a mountain).

I can forgive all that. Morley's dog-whistling "Mossad was a driver of the JFKA" has sunk him into the mire.

I knew Morley was full of beans when I asked him about five years ago if he thought Yuri Nosenko was a true defector and he said "yes."

The interest in Diaz in relation to the JFKA seems to stem from a confession Tony Cuesta allegedly made about him. In the following forum thread i go through why that confession implicating Diaz in the JFKA is almost certainly bogus: https://educationforum.ipbhost.com/topic/31530-tony-cuestas-bogus-confession/
