Richard, as I understand it, the expiration of the temporary “enhanced” standard deduction for seniors is most definitely already set to expire in three more years. There is no “might expire one day” to it. It will automatically expire unless it is specifically extended by the powers who be at that point in time. Who knows what might happen in three more years? The political climate could easily be quite different. I think it is a legitimate fear for seniors. But most do not seem to have recognized the temporary nature of this act.

I doubt any politician from either party is going to allow this to expire.  That would be political suicide.  The more relevant point, however, is that the tax cuts relating to social security and tips (no matter of what duration) benefit those on limited incomes and not billionaires.  The repeated claim that the Trump tax cuts are only for the billionaires is false.
