Trump is having a great run.  The stock market is hitting record highs, gas prices are low, successful attack on Iran resulting in ceasefire, progress in Gaza, the budget bill is working its way through the various leftist obstructions, and inflation is leveling out.  So much winning.   Delivering on promises.  Meanwhile the Dems are touting an Internet socialist for winning a primary in NYC.  An anti-Semite who refuses to condemn hate speech against Jews.  This is the guy they are touting as the way forward for the party.  There will soon be Soviet-era bread lines in NYC if he is elected with his government run grocery stores.  And his racist statement to tax white people is disqualifying.

I am a bit confused regarding the Social Security aspect of the bill. I read a news article that indicated they passed a $6,000.00 boost to the standard deduction for seniors (in lieu of eliminating taxes on SS). Then I got an email from Social Security indicating that taxes on SS have been eliminated. Which one is right (if either are)?


Edit: I read an article from AARP this morning which said the $6,000.00 boost to the standard deduction is correct. However, it is only temporary (3-years). And it phases out for people with higher incomes. So, whatever happened to the “No taxes on Social Security promise???

My understanding is that while they did not technically eliminate the taxes on SS the $6k deduction effectively does the same thing for most seniors because it is estimated that the deduction covers the SS taxes for 90% of seniors.

I understand that. However, it is only for three years. I am thankful for what is being done. But it isn’t what was promised.
