--- Quote from: Richard Smith on June 15, 2026, 02:58:43 AM ---There are crazies in both parties but on the left they are in charge.  In the Republican party, they are in the margins.  Trump says some crazy things but more often than not pursues policies grounded in common sense.  The media fixates on the words and ignores the positive results.  A conflict is being resolved today that they suggested would result in WWIII and genocide.  Are they apologizing?  Nope.  The news is all about the UFC match and the Kennedy Center.   Minoriites and younger people tend to vote for Dems for their own reasons but have been less influenced by the propaganda than the elderly, white academic types who have been completely brainwashed.

Your boy, Donald "Pert Nipples" Trump, was installed by "former" KGB counterintelligence officer Vladimir Putin on 20 January 2017 to tear our country apart and destroy NATO, and he's doing a darned good job of it.

I don't think most people appreciate what Donald Trump has done. Leaders don't get credit for the disasters they divert. People don't appreciate what a danger Iran posed. If they had developed a nuclear weapon, they already had the missile technology to reach ever capital in Europe. It would have only been a matter of time before they could reach the east coast and beyond. That would have been an extremely dangerous situation. It wouldn't have been like the Cold War when mutual assured destruction acted as a deterrent to both sides. The Iranians are religious zealots to whom martyrdom is the highest calling. It's the same mindset that caused 19 hijackers to fly airliners into our buildings knowing they would die in the process. I have no doubt Iran would have embraced mutual assured destruction.

I don't understand people who say their development of a nuclear weapon wasn't imminent. I don't know if that is true or not but why the hell would we want to wait until it was imminent before taking drastic action. Had we known the Japanese were planning to strike us at Pearl Harbor, I don't think we would have waiedt until December 6 to take action.

So many people only care that the price of gas has spiked the last several months. If that's the price we had to pay to keep the Iranians from becoming a threat to our homeland, it's money well spent.
If this deal holds, and it's still an if, and the Strait of Hormuz is opened again bringing down prices, I hope the voters will be able to look at the situation objectively.

Yes, Donald Trump is prone to hyperbole but the things he says are usually directionally correct. He can talk like a crazy man because he knows that fires up the base, but he governs with a cool head as he has shown the past few months. A lot of people, including me, were wondering why we didn't just bomb Iran back to the Stone Age He used just enough firepower to get them to bargain in good faith if hey have actually done that. I liked Hegseth's expression, negotiate with bombs. Once Trump started to talk about taking over Kharg Island the Iranians realized he wasn't pussyfooting around.

Trump just says what most people are afraid to say. That's why he consistently defies the polling and has been elected POTUS 3 times. Boys in girls locker rooms, Boys competing against girls, wide open borders, these are issues that Trump bluntly spells out. The vast majority of the voting public agrees with him. The Dem's want to shut him up any way they can, even though he is a Lame Duck. Trump's "straight talking" brings out into the open the absurdity of the Dem Party Policies.
And Trump is not afraid to continue pointing out the 2020 Election was rigged. People KNOW that election was crooked, just as the recent Calif Primary was. Same M.O. employed for both elections. Count alleged ballots endlessly until the Dem Candidate stuffs the box enough to turn the election around.

The term "lame duck" gets tossed around loosely these days. Initially, it referred to an outgoing Congress the new Congress was voted into office and when it was sworn in. It was also applied to the outgoing POTUS. Originally, both the new Congress and the new POTUS were sworn in on March 4. During that time the current Congress and POTUS have full powers. Usually the sessions just clean up loose ends with spending bills and the Senate can act on confirmations of presidential appointees. The 20th Amendment moved the inauguration of the POTUS to January 20 and the new Congress taking power on January 3. It also shifted the task of confirming the Electoral College vote to the new Congress.

Trump is not a lame duck and will not be one until after the 2028 presidential election. If he loses either the House, Senate, or both, he will have reduced power but he will not be a lame duck. We will simply have divided power which has happened many times in the past> When that happens, the POTUS and Congress have to negotiate with one another to pass legistlation rather than having one party be able ramrod spending bills into law.

Who knew the most dangerous part of skydiving isn't jumping out of the plane. It's going up in the plane.

I wouldn't jump out of a perfectly good airplane for all of Elon Musk's money.

It would have to be going down in flames and even then I'd probably need a push.

The fall isn't what kills you. It's that sudden stop.
