The last thing Trump wants to do is wipe out Iran. His intention is to inflict enough damage on the country that they capitulate, which would mean opening the Strait of Hormuz and agreeing to abandon their quest for nuclear weapons and long range missiles. While there are those within what's left of the Iranian regime who appear willing to negotiate, the Revolutionary Guard seems willing to fight to the end, rather than capitulate to US demands. This is the same sort of fanaticism we faced at the end of the WWII when Japan's military leaders seemed willing to absorb a US invasion that would have cost millions of Japanese lives, both civilian and military and an estimated half million casualties on the Allied side. That's why Truman had to make the awful decision to use the A-bomb against Japanese cities because he knew it would result in far fewer deaths than invading Japan. The first atomic strike was not enough to make the Japanese surrender and even after the second bomb was dropped, there were hardliners who thought it would be more honorable to fight to the last man than to surrender.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard seems to have taken a similar stance. Even knowing they face annihilation if they refuse to give in, they prefer that to a negotiated settlement that meets US demands. It is virtually impossible to negotiate with people who have that mind set. The only way to achieve a negotiated end to the conflict is to continue to identify, locate, and kill these hardliners until someone with some common sense is able to call the shots. If that means bombing the country back into the Stone Age, so be it. Let's see how willing they are to continue the fight when all they are able to do is throw rocks at us.

I suspect Trump will start with measured attacks against Iran's infrastructure and see if that brings them to their knees. It probably won't at first, but we need to keep intensifying until they cry UNCLE. I have to believe at some point, somebody is going to be in charge with the sense to realize enough is enough, and accept the US terms.

These TERRORISTS have already been given plenty of time. What did they do during this current negotiation time period? They HUNG people in the public square. They should be given absolutely no quarter. Their punishment should be in line with those running the Nazi Death Camps during WW 2.

This is Not about Trump. It is about regular people, scrounging out a living, being hung in the public square. What is going on there is no different than a Nazi Death Camp. Terrorism is a Terrorism. Whatever the decade may be.

Nothing funny about it. What do you think happened in France during WW 2? And the French celebrated their freedom. People such as yourself are bankrupt when it comes to history.
