The First Shot

Isn't the real issue is that "the first shot didn't hit anybody" IF THERE WAS SUCH A FIRST SHOT? It seem to me likely that what is being described as the "missed early first shot" - that no one can agree when the hell it occurred and that numerous witnesses described as sounding "different" - was not a shot at all, meaning that either there were only two shots or, if there were three shots, the first did in fact hit JFK. The "missed early first shot" strikes me as the least likely and least supported by evidence. Since an early missed shot is not essential to the LN narrative, I don't understand the fascination/obsession with it. I assume it's that a three-shot scenario without an early miss creates problems for the SBT - correct?

In her appearance in "The Men Who Killed Kennedy," she said, without prompting, "if" it was a shot. She also wrote a few hours after the assassination that she was standing ten feet from the Newmans - should we believe that?

2) Regarding Woodward's horrible, horrible "ten feet from the Newmans" gaff, I think you should take into account the probability that she was traumatized -- to the point of later "haziness" -- by seeing the brains of her acquaintance get blown out a short distance from her, and the possibility that she just wasn't good at estimating distances, anyway.

She and her coworkers had planned to watch on Houston, but because of the crowds they crossed to Elm and stationed themselves "just down" from the TSBD. Writing her article minutes later, she thought she'd spent the entire time on the grassy knoll, the shots came from behind and to her right, the Newmans were ten feet away, and the Newmans covered their child because "Apparently, the bullets had whizzed directly over their heads."

Now THAT, by God, is "traumatized!"

What she got RIGHT, at least insofar as her location goes, was in 1993 and 2015. What she got absurdly, completely WRONG was MINUTES AFTER THE JFKA. If her statements in 1993 strike you as problematical, then you must think her 1963 article was correct. Hello? Or is it "Mary was soooooooo traumatized, dude, that she forgot where the hell she was and made numerous other misstatements based on being at that location, but by God she was rock-solid on her description of the shots" - hello, really, ya think?
