I suspect that MAGATS who were dismissive of the dangers of Covid are equally naive about the threat that the development of "superintelligent AI" poses mankind.

No one was dismissive of the dangers of COVID.  What was suspect were the many lies and laughable guidelines that were designed to maximize the pain on Americans for political purposes (i.e. winning the 2020 election).  Absent COVID, and more particularly the futile shutdown and masking requirements that inflicted untold economic harm for no gain, Trump would have won in 2020.  Trump's mistake was being dupped by Fauci and the Dems into following their guidelines.  The appropriate thing to have done would have to prioritize those most at risk like seniors and folks with existing health conditions.  Everyone else should have gone about their business.  Everyone got COVID eventually regardless of masks and shutdowns.  Biden got it three times.

In the early days of the pandemic, Trump wanted to shut down travel from China and his critics accused him of being xenophobic and overreacting. Months later, those same critics were saying he didn't do enough soon enough. Then we had Fauci pretending he was some kind of guru when most of what he told us turned out to be dead wrong.

In July 2020, Trump retweeted a video featuring doctors making false claims about a coronavirus "cure" and dismissing "the efficacy of masks. He defended the presenters as "very respected" after social media platforms removed the video for violating misinformation policies."

“Our doctors get more money if somebody dies from COVID. You know that, right?” Trump told a crowd in Michigan, falsely asserting that doctors purposefully chose to blame COVID-19 for terminal illnesses like cancer or heart attacks."

"Donald Trump downplayed the virus and blocked Fauci from appearing on several television programs. Trump called Fauci part of a group of "idiots" and suggested he might fire him after the presidential election, which Trump lost."

I agree.  They not only bungled the response but then they allowed the Dems to hijack the pandemic for their political purposes under the guise of quack science.  The Dems did everything possible to maximize the pain.  Their TDS hatred made them want the country to suffer because it allowed them to blame Trump.  Fauci should have been an expert.  His entire job was to prepare for a pandemic.  When it finally came, he was making it up as he went along.  As though no possible lessons could have been learned from the many past pandemics.   He was not only incompetent but his desire for attention and wealth made it all the worse.   He catered to the media and celebrity forces that were all on the TDS train to make COVID Trump's fault.  Fauci took that ride instead of standing up to them.
