Partly in response to a question asked in a recent Ed Forum thread.

SS NOLA SAIC John W Rice was diverted while returning from a meeting at Barksdale AFB in early afternoon 11/22/63 with
instructions to locate a Jack Martin. This Martin later moved to Minnesota where he is buried in a veteran's cemetery.

DETAILS OF INVESTIGATION

As the document reads:

"At 1:40 P.M. on November 22, 1963, reporting agent received a long distance telephone call from Clerk Lillian L. Rhyan, of our Dallas office, who stated that she was calling at the request of SA Robert A. Steuart, Dallas, regarding an individual named Jack Martin, Route 1, Goldonna, La., on whom SA Steuart desired discreet inquiries conducted. At that time Clerk Rhyan indicated that she did not have any information regarding the said Jack Martin and did not know what connection, if any, he might have had with the shooting of President John F. Kennedy that same date at Dallas."

John Martin, Jr., 58 years old USPO safety officer, born in Minnesota, filmed the limousine near the TSBD

April 7, 1964 FBI memo on Martin and group of Dallas film makers marketing a film of edited consolidated film footage

John T Martin, 17 year old film maker, minuteman, resided in St. Paul, moved to Minneapolis where he attended UMINN and raised snakes when Harold Weisberg and Gary Schoener encountered him in 1968.

1969 memo by Schoener mentions John T Martin at bottom of second paragraph along with name of FBI agent who "handled"
Martin's film.

His film was donated to the jfk.org museum with stipulation his background would not be disclosed.

I made no similar agreement with John T. Martin,

Update 03/03/23 :
An Ed Forum poster inaccurately believes he identified John T Martin but has instead "discovered" the identical 79 year old USN veteran Thomas Graves was  convinced was  film maker Martin, who was 17 in 1963, and 76, now.

Would someone with posting access at the Ed Forum, after reading the revised bottom portion of my prior post in this thread, research details I shared here and at DPF in 2019, please inform these two "debaters" in the hope they might stop?

All of the following is inaccurate speculation, Steve Roe's "candidate" enlisted in the USN in 1962, is still married to Jerrilyn
and was born 10/31/1943, (see image from my prior post, reposted at bottom of this post.)

Steve Roe March 4, 2023

"...Greg, I of course disagree with that. There are other items of John Timothy Martin I did not include in my article.

Before I get into that, why Martin John Timmons? What makes you suspect that, other than the age? Do you have any proof that Martin John Timmons was in the U.S. Army 24th Infantry? Maybe you have other evidence to support your argument?

Unfortunately, I can't post pictures of this newspaper article of the marriage license notice, so I will transcribe it. Source: Star Tribune (Minneapolis) July 8, 1966

John T. Martin, 22, County Road 82, W. End St., Excelsior; Jerilyn N. Miller, 23, 6820 Pillsbury Av. S. Richfield

That would make John T. Martin born somewhere around 1944, too young to join General Walker's 24th Infantry Army. Remember Walker was relieved of his command in 1961. I believe Schoener's memory was not correct. He admitted it was many years ago.

I find it a huge stretch that the FBI would not check Martin's (or your Timmons) identification before filing their report.

Now to back up the film footage, taken on a family vacation: Reverend J. Orville Martin was John's father. He was a Lutheran minister who moved to Minnesota around 1958 from California. His family ancestors were Swedish, and J. Orville spoke the language. Again, another newspaper article from the Minneapolis Star on September 7, 1963:

The Reverend J. Orville Martin, pastor, Mount Calvery Lutheran, Excelsior: "Visiting Sweden the ancestral parishes in Sweden which our relatives attended before coming to this country. We stood in pulpits from which three generations of our people heard had the word of God preached and we took film of baptisteries and altars where they received the sacraments.

That sounds like a family trip, taking film footage, and would coincide with the Martin's family trip to Dallas, New Orleans (August 9, 1963) and eventually over to Sweden. ..."

My comment: Obit of the father, J. Orville Martin, of the irrelevant John Timothy Martin, per the wedding announcement image in the page linked above,
https://www.startribune.com/obituaries/detail/2276102/

The real Martin resided in 1963 only with his mother, of a different name than the deceased first wife described in the obit linked above.
