I hope, before this is all over, Kevin McCarthy breaks down and shouts during the debate in the House:

Help! Wait! Stop! Stop and listen to me!... These people who're coming after me are not human!
Look, you fools, you're in danger! Can't you see?! They're after you! They're after all of us! Our wives, our children, everyone! THEY'RE HERE, ALREADY! YOU'RE NEXT!
Don't just sit there measuring me for a straightjacket, do something! Call for help! Oh, what's the use?!
Doctor, will you tell these fools? I'm not crazy. Make them listen to me before it's too late.

It's amazing that in modern society a debate about, for example, who should be Speaker is deemed a "fiasco" or "chaos."  The leftist media suggests that any dissent to the political establishment is a challenge to democracy by fanatics and nuts.  What difference does it make if it takes a week or longer to pick the speaker?  That is how a democracy should work.  Better to pick the best person than act like sheep rubber stamping the corrupt politicians who have a stranglehold on power and feel as though they rule by divine right.

This isn't a debate. Not by a long shot. Even Trump has called the 20 extreme rightwingers, who are holding the House hostage,  embarrasing. It's a minority that is trying to impose their will on the majority. Nothing could be further away from a democracy as that.

I disagree with your description of the media as "Leftist" which implies social democracy or socialism. The mainstream media leans towards Center-Left Liberalism which tends to be very pro-establishment or pro-authority.

Leftists tend to be skeptical of the government and the political establishment. Which distinguishes them from Liberals.

Aside from that, I agree that having a long drawn out debate in Congress is the way democracy is supposed to work. Legislators aren't supposed to be a rubber-stamp for whatever the party bosses decide in their smoke filled rooms.

In parliamentary systems, it's not uncommon for the legislators to take weeks or months to choose leaders and form a governing coalition. That's the way democracies are supposed to function.

This is operating pursuant to the rules.  For good or ill, this is how it is done.  What would you suggest happen here?  An insurrection because you don't like the legal process?  LOL.  Of course, the Dems could end this by having a handful vote for McCarthy.  So they as a group are as responsible for the stalemate as any republican.

No, we already had that on January 6th... remember?

How typical Republican, just blame the Democrats for everything. Sad.

Btw, to break the deadlock as well as the extreme right minorities agenda some more reasonable Republicans could do the country a service and simply vote for Jeffries. It would only take 6 of them to get the House back on track.

The Dems have ample votes to end the gridlock.   If this is such a crisis being created by a handful of radicals with disastrous results for the country, a few Dems merely have to vote for McCarthy to end it.  Are you suggesting the Dems are putting politics ahead of national interests?  The Republicans won a majority of the seats pursuant to the democratic process.  It is unrealistic to suggest that the solution is for the majority to usurp the will of the people and select someone from the minority party.  A Republican will become speaker because that is what US citizens decided when they voted for more Republicans than Democrats.  It's just a matter of when.  And if it takes days or weeks, so be it.  Don't worry.  "Europe" is still getting its money.  You won't have to pay for education or health care or even get a job.  Just ride the wave of socialism paid for by Americans.

The Republicans are the majority party. Why should the Democrats have to help a party that can't even get their own house in order solve a problem they themselves have created. When Democrats give McCarthy the support he needs, all they will get in return is obstruction for the next two years. That's not in the interests of the American people!

Are you suggesting the Dems are putting politics ahead of national interests?

No not at all. It's not in the national interest to have a weak speaker as McCarthy who can't even keep the extreme right wing of his party under control. McCarthy offers no guarantee that any serious business will be done in the House for the next two years. It would be far better when the majority of the Republicans come to an agreement with Jeffries in order to get actual work down and reduce the possibilities for the extreme right wingers to advance their own agenda. All it would take is 6 well minded Republicans to end this farce and some Republicans are already beginning to talk about that option. It won't take long before some of McCarthy's backers get so fed up with this mess that they decided to take that route.

The Republicans won a majority of the seats pursuant to the democratic process.  It is unrealistic to suggest that the solution is for the majority to usurp the will of the people and select someone from the minority party.

But it is "realistic" that an extreme right wing minority (for which most Republican voters did not vote) hijack the party and House and hold it hostage to push through their catastrophic agenda, in the full knowledge that it will never work? They don't have an alternative, and even if they did, they will never get the majority of the votes.

Don't worry.  "Europe" is still getting its money. You won't have to pay for education or health care or even get a job.  Just ride the wave of socialism paid for by Americans.

Whatever caused your head injury? Are you really this stupid and/or ignorant to believe that America is paying for education, health care and schools in Europe?
You really need to stop parroting all the bogus right wing propaganda and educate yourself before you say something as silly as this again.
