Recent GOP polling shows huge shift towards Democrats

Americans for Prosperity 42-39 (+3)
Echelon Insights                48-44 (+4)
Chamber of Commerce    46-41 (+5)
Winning The Issues           47-41 (+6)

Dems are up an average of 4.5 in these influential Republican polls. That's keep the House territory.

More GOP polling. Changes in these polls show big shift to Democrats.

Rasmussen goes 39-49 to 41-46 - 5 pt shift
American Greatness 42-50 to 44-45 - 7 pt shift
Senate Opportunity Fund 42-47 to 44-45 - 4 pt shift

What are Republicans seeing in their polling?

A new bluer election.

Patrick De Haan @GasBuddyGuy

10 CENTS TO GO! We're at $4.099/gal for a national average. BUT in ~100 hours, we will see the national average fall to $3.999 per gallon, the lowest and first time since March 5. A handful of stations in the US could even fall to $2.99/gal by then.

The White House @WhiteHouse

Five former Treasury secretaries from across the political divide can agree: the Inflation Reduction Act will increase economic competitiveness, lower costs for families, and fight inflation — all without increasing taxes for any family making less than $400,000/year.

Sinema says she’ll ‘move forward’ as Schumer announces ‘entire caucus’ on board for Inflation Reduction Act

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced on Thursday evening that the "entire" Democratic Party caucus is unified behind the Inflation Reduction Act.

Schumer announced the final bill would be introduced on Saturday, likely setting up a weekend vote-a-rama followed by votes next week.

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) announced she will "move forward" after preserving the carried interest tax loophole that is primary used by hedge fund managers.

The bill will also have to go before the Senate parliamentarian.

Passage of the bill would be a major victory for Democrats and President Joe Biden heading into the 2020 midterm election.

This would be the second big legislative victory this summer after passage of the burn pit bill.

Republicans are itching to dismantle Social Security and Medicare. They are very open about their intentions. Ron Johnson is talking ending Social Security on right wing radio.

'Self-serving multimillionaire': GOP's Ron Johnson slammed over push to dismantle Social Security and Medicare

Democratic challenger Mandela Barnes slammed Sen. Ron Johnson as a "self-serving, multimillionaire" on Tuesday after the sitting Republican from Wisconsin called for making both Social Security and Medicare discretionary programs—a reform that would pave the way for the GOP to realize its half-century-long dream of dismantling two of the nation's most essential and popular social programs.

Speaking on a right-wing radio show earlier in the day, Johnson criticized the "mandatory" spending demanded by Social Security and Medicare, guaranteed benefit programs available to all Americans and overwhelmingly popular.

"What we ought to be doing is we ought to turn everything into discretionary spending so that it's all evaluated so that we can fix problems or fix programs that are broken," said Johnson on the Regular Joe Show.

Parker Butler @parkerpbutler

Wow. Ron Johnson just said Congress should end the guaranteed benefits of Social Security and Medicare, calling the programs that millions paid into a “debt burden”

He said Congress should hold a vote on whether to cut off funding for the programs.

In his response, Barnes said the Trump-supporting Republican incumbent "wants to strip working people of the Social Security and Medicare they've earned. Wisconsinites pay into Social Security through a lifetime of hard work, and they're counting on this program and Medicare—but Ron Johnson just doesn't care."

Barnes, who currently serves as Wisconsin's Lt. Governor, was far from the only critic to pounce on Johnson's remarks.

"Johnson wants to END the Social Security and Medicare guarantee," said the advocacy group Social Security Works on social media. "This would be a disaster for seniors and people with disabilities in Wisconsin and across the country."

Mark Pocan @ MarkPocan

You know that money you’ve paid all your life out of your paycheck for Social Security & Medicare? @SenRonJohnson wants to steal your money and potentially cut benefits from both. That’s a more extreme position than almost anyone in the U.S. Senate. Time for @TheOtherMandela!

Ron Johnson suggested he seeks to turn everything in the federal budget into discretionary spending, including Social Security and Medicare.

It's not the first time Johnson has attacked Social Security. Just last year, he called the program a "Ponzi scheme" and has variously supported legislation that would raise the retirement age for seniors and backed other GOP proposals to increase out-of-pocket spending by Medicare beneficiaries.

In a statement, Philip Shulman, a spokesperson for the Wisconsin Democratic Party, said, "Ron Johnson has made clear he would cut Social Security and Medicare despite the devastating impact it would have on older Wisconsinites. During his years in D.C., Johnson has lost touch with Wisconsinites and voters will hold him accountable in November."

Thanks President Biden! Another campaign promise has been kept and more people have health insurance than ever before.

Number of uninsured Americans drops to an all-time low

Washington (AP) — The number of people living in America without health insurance coverage hit an all-time low of 8 percent this year, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced Tuesday.

“Every American has the right to the peace of mind that comes with access to affordable, quality health care,” President Joe Biden said in a statement Tuesday about the record-low rate of uninsured Americans.

The findings come days after Democrats hammered out a 725-page climate, health care and tax deal that would extend generous federal subsidies for people who buy private health insurance that are credited with driving down the uninsured rates. Democrats have proposed spending $64 billion to extend those price breaks for three more years.

The drop in uninsured Americans began last year, when Congress and Biden signed off on a $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill that lowered premiums and out-of-pocket costs for new or returning customers purchasing plans through the Affordable Care Act’s private health insurance markets.

The uninsured rate fell to just under 9 percent last year with the improved subsidies. The Biden administration also began to step up advertising and increased the number of counselors who helped sign up people for plans during the open enrollment season last year.

Prior to last year, the uninsured rate had consistently remained in the double digits for decades. The number of uninsured Americans began dropping after the ACA, which expanded Medicaid and offers health insurance to people who lack job-based coverage through a mix of subsidized private plans, was enacted in 2010.

Roughly 26 million people remain without health insurance in the U.S. Just under 2 percent of children are now uninsured.

"We know that access to quality, affordable health care is key to healthier lives, economic security, and peace of mind,” HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra said in a statement Tuesday.

President Biden @POTUS

When we pass the Inflation Reduction Act, not a single American in the middle class will pay higher taxes.

It’s that simple.

For too long, big, super-wealthy corporations haven’t paid their fair share in taxes.

We’re going to change that with Inflation Reduction Act.

It's time for Medicare to have the power to negotiate prescription drug prices.

The Inflation Reduction Act will get it done.

The Inflation Reduction Act won't just be the largest investment in clean energy and American energy security in history.

It will be the largest investment in American manufacturing as well.

The Inflation Reduction Act will cap the amount of money seniors pay on prescription drugs at $2,000 a year for cancer and any other diseases.

That’s a godsend for so many families.

Today, I sat down with leaders from some of America's largest companies and labor organizations to talk Inflation Reduction Act and how this bill meets the needs of working families now and sets us up for stronger, sustained economic growth for the years ahead.

Tune in to the Inflation Reduction Act roundtable with business and labor leaders as I discuss how we’ll lower costs and the deficit, fight inflation, and bolster domestic manufacturing.

The July 2022 Jobs Report has just been released and the Biden Boom continues.

Economists were expecting 258,000 jobs and the July jobs report crushed expectations with 528,000 in July.

Unemployment dropped to 3.5%.

What President Biden has done for jobs and the economy is truly historic. No President in history has created this many jobs this fast at nearly 11 million in less than 2 years.
