All Republicans except for Adam Kinzinger voted against fighting domestic terrorism in the United States.

How can anybody in Congress vote against keeping Americans safe against violent extremists and hate groups?

Republicans are telling their own constituents and Americans across the country that they are soft on crime and don't care about their safety.

Once again, Democrats deliver by fighting against violent domestic terrorism.

House passes bill to aid fight against domestic terrorism after Buffalo supermarket shooting
The vote was 222-203, with all Democrats voting in favor of the proposal.

In the wake of the Buffalo, New York, supermarket shooting that left 10 Black people dead, the House on Wednesday approved a measure to beef up federal efforts to combat domestic terrorism and white supremacy.

The vote was 222-203, with Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Illinois, voting with all Democrats in favor of the proposal.

The bill from Rep. Brad Schneider, D-Illinois, would create new offices within the Justice Department, Department of Homeland Security and Federal Bureau of Investigation to "monitor, analyze, investigate, and prosecute domestic terrorism."

Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., and other progressives were initially wary of the measure earlier this year, but reached an agreement on language in talks with leadership and the American Civil Liberties Union to address concerns about the potential infringement on Americans' First Amendment rights.

"I was proud to lead my colleagues in a successful effort to strengthen protections in this bill for protesters, narrow the domestic terrorism definition, and enhance the scope of Congressional oversight to ensure that civil rights and civil liberties continue to be protected," Bush said in a statement to ABC News. "As an activist, I know first-hand the ways in which law enforcement agencies have targeted, surveilled and prosecuted marginalized communities."

All Republicans besides Kinzinger opposed the measure, arguing that it would be duplicative and could be used to target parents raising concerns at local school board meetings.

That could jeopardize its passage through the Senate, where Democrats have pledged to hold a vote but need the support of ten Republicans to advance legislation past the 60-vote threshold.

"By diverting resources that could be used to actually combat domestic terrorism and mandating investigations into the armed services and law enforcement, this bill further weaponizes and emboldens the DOJ to target Americans' First Amendment rights and go after those who they see as political threats," House GOP Whip Steve Scalise's office wrote to Republican lawmakers in a memo encouraging them to vote against the measure.

The Justice Department and Attorney General Merrick Garland have said Republicans are mischaracterizing a memo issued last fall to the FBI and U.S. attorneys' offices around the country encouraging them to meet with local law enforcement partners to address a rising number of threats against local school board officials.

Even Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., who co-sponsored the original resolution introduced with Schneider, said he was "torn" on the bill ahead of passage, and ultimately voted against it.

"Maybe for four months after I put my name on that bill, every meeting I went to, I had people upset I was on that bill," he told ABC News. "They said, 'Will I be investigated because I am pro-life?' I heard overwhelming feedback."

The Justice Department has already established a domestic terrorism unit, and the Biden administration has requested funding from Congress to support 60 attorneys focused on domestic terrorism cases.

FBI Director Christopher Wray has called domestic terrorism one of the greatest threats to the United States.

The problem of domestic terrorism has been metastasizing across the country for a long time now and it's not going away anytime soon," Wray told a Congressional panel in March of 2021. "At the FBI, we've been sounding the alarm on it for a number of years now."

Republicans are on a roll voting against Americans.

On Wednesday, Republicans in the House voted not to fund money to supply baby formula to babies that need it. House Republicans also voted against fighting domestic terrorism.

On Thursday the Republicans in the Senate killed the Restaurant Revitalization Fund which helps small businesses all across America that were affected by the pandemic.

And for good measure, also on Thursday, House Republicans voted against the gas price-gouging bill which would prevent oil companies from gouging consumers at the pump. 4 disgraceful Democrats voted against this bill too. President Biden has been asking Congress to pass this bill so we can have affordable gas prices again.

So, for two weeks we saw Republicans feigning outrage over the baby formula shortage trying to attack President Biden which he had no control over. Then when the bill was brought to the House floor to fund baby formula, Republicans voted against it.

Then we see these same right wing Republicans on Twitter and tv screaming about high gas prices as they falsley blame President Biden for it. And once again, when the bill comes to the House floor to stop these big oil companies from gouging consumers at the pump, the Republicans all vote against it.

Do you see a pattern here? Republicans couldn't care less about high gas prices or that there was a baby formula shortage. They just want to grandstand infront of the cameras and go on Twitter to attack President Biden hoping to lower his popularity. It's all GOP political theatre. They scream and yell for show, and when it comes time to vote, they all vote against what they were screaming for.

The simple fact is, Republicans want gas prices to remain high so they can keep attacking President Biden for it. That's their main talking point. If this bill passes the Senate, then gas prices would quickly fall because oil companies won't be able to artificially keep gas prices high. And when that happens, the GOP will lose their talking point. Also, corrupt Republicans and a few corrupt Democrats take money from Big Oil Companies so there is no way they would vote against their cash cow because they would lose their campaign money Big Oil gives them. So, Republicans voted no to keep gas prices high and Senate Republicans will do the same because they don't care about you.

Once again, it's the Democrats working hard for Americans voting to lower gas prices and to make people's lives more affordable.

House Dems pass gas price-gouging bill

The House's Democratic majority overcame some internal opposition to pass legislation on Thursday addressing high gas prices by cracking down on high price gouging from oil companies.

The bill was approved along party lines in a vote of 217-207. Four Democrats -- Texas' Lizzie Fletcher, Jared Golden of Maine, Stephanie Murphy of Florida and Kathleen Rice of New York -- joined all Republicans in the chamber in voting against the legislation.

The Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act, introduced by Reps. Kim Schrier, D-Wash., and Katie Porter, D-Calif., would give the president the authority to issue an energy emergency proclamation that would make it unlawful for companies to increase fuel prices to "unconscionably excessive" levels.

It would also expand the powers of the Federal Trade Commission to investigate alleged price gouging in the industry and would direct any penalties toward funding weatherization and low-income energy assistance.

"The problem is Big Oil is keeping supply artificially low so prices and profits stay high. Now I think that when the market is broken, that's when Congress has to step in to protect American consumers," Rep. Frank Pallone, D-N.J., the chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said in a hearing on Monday. "And that's what this bill does: It empowers the FTC to go after the gougers and empowers the agency to effectively monitor and report on market manipulation."

Oil executives previously testified before Congress to address concerns about their prices but insisted it was the result of larger forces, including supply and demand.

"If you don't support legislation to stop price gouging, you are for price gouging," Speaker Nancy Pelosi told members during a whip meeting on Wednesday.

Though the legislation passed in the House, it faces a tough climb in the Senate. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., promised to bring the bill to the floor -- though it has no pathway to passage without GOP support.

Lawmakers had discussed introducing other legislation to lower gas prices such as measures codifying a federal gas tax holiday. That proposal didn't gain traction among Democratic leaders, like Pelosi, who argued consumers wouldn't benefit.

"I think we need to start with something like this bill and see what we can do," Rep. Porter told ABC News. "I think it is better to invest in those [gas tax holidays] through something like the infrastructure bill, which I supported."

Don't let Republicans tell you they are for small business and restaurant owners. They are not. Republicans just killed a bill that would have helped restaurant owners all across America. Then after they killed it they make lame excuses. Americans want action and not excuses. This isn't a Republican or a Democrat issue, this is an American issue and people's livelihoods are at stake. Republicans just killed their restaurant businesses.

Senate votes to kill the $40 billion Restaurant Revitalization Fund round two

52 Senators voted to advance the bill on Thursday -- not enough votes to pass this crucial round of financing for restaurants that did not receive it the first time around

The Senate declined to advance the bipartisan $48 billion Small Business COVID Relief Act (which included a $40 billion replenishment of the Restaurant Revitalization Fund) in a vote on Tuesday. The bill received 52 “yes” votes, which was eight votes shy of the amount needed to begin debate on the bill.

This is likely the death knell for the replenishment bill, which was first proposed last summer and would have funded the 265,000 restaurant and bar operators that applied and were denied funding (more than two-thirds of total applicants).

“Today, a Senate filibuster dashed the promise made to more than 177,000 small business owners in communities across the country” Sean Kennedy, executive vice president of public affairs for the National Restaurant Association said in a statement. “These restaurant owners believed the creation of the Restaurant Revitalization Fund was a down payment, and that the Senate would complete the mission with this vote […] While there are valid questions about government spending and inflation, restaurants should not be caught in the crossfire."

Republicans voted against advancing the bill to the floor for debate.

"I think we've been talking to restaurant people about this issue; then we talk to the hospital people about needing money,” Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) told Roll Call earlier this week. “If you respond to all these — and I think it might be unfair to respond to one, rather than all of them — you could easily have another trillion-dollar package.”

Other Republican Senators, including Mitt Romney (R-Utah), claimed in interviews with Roll Call that they were not aware of the bill, but would likely vote against it.

On the other side of the aisle, Democrats believed that even though the country is no longer in emergency mode, that the $40 billion of funding should be treated as such because the first round of RRF funding during the crisis could not cover all who were eligible and applied.

During the last round of the Restaurant Revitalization Fund in May 2021, the U.S. Small Business Administration at first wanted to prioritize businesses owned by women, minorities and veterans, but after a series of discrimination lawsuits, were required to abandon this prioritization. As a result, many businesses that were awarded RRF funding controversially had their grants rescinded.

This is not the first time over the past year that restaurants have gotten their hopes up for a restaurant relief refill.

In June, the Restaurant Revitalization Fund Replenishment Act of 2021 was introduced as a $60 billion piece of legislation in a bipartisan effort by Sens. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) and Roger Wicker (R-Minn.) and Reps. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Penn.). Other efforts included House Republicans introducing similar legislation — the ENTRÉE Act — which would have added $60 billion funds to the Restaurant Revitalization Fund, with funding provided by unspent EIDLs and funds from Biden’s American Rescue Plan, and another piece of legislation introduced by Senate Democrats that would have added $48 billion in emergency funding to the depleted Restaurant Revitalization Fund.

This final vote on Thursday was the last hope for restaurants.

"Neighborhood restaurants nationwide have held out hope for this program, selling their homes, cashing out retirement funds, or taking personal loans in an effort to keep their employees working and their doors open,” Erika Polmar, Executive Director of the Independent Restaurant Coalition said in a statement. “We estimate more than half of the 177,300 restaurants waiting for an RRF grant will close in the next few months as a result of Congressional inaction.”

President Biden arrives in South Korea for talks with President Yoon

OSAN AIR BASE, South Korea (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden arrived in South Korea on Friday, the first leg of his first trip to Asia as president.

Biden was greeted at the U.S. air base at Osan by South Korean foreign minister Park Jin, and the commanding general of U.S. forces in Korea, Paul LaCamera, among other American and South Korean officials.

Biden was due to meet with South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol later Friday at a Samsung Electronics plant, ahead of a full day of events on Saturday.

The visit will be the first meeting between the two leaders. Yoon took office on May 10, and has vowed to deepen ties with Washington.

The South Korean president hopes to gain assurances from Biden that the United States will strengthen its deterrence against North Korean threats, while expanding the decades-old alliance to tackle other issues.

Biden, meanwhile, is expected to bring a theme of countering China's presence in the region.

We keep hearing the phony "America First" slogan from Republicans.

Well, they had several bills to vote on the last two days to put "America First" and they voted against every single one of them. How is that putting "America First" when they vote against the best interests of Americans?

The GOP Senate killed a bill that would have helped small businesses and restaurants all across America. Yet they claim they are for small business owners. That's a lie because Senate Republicans voted against small businesses owners yesterday.

The GOP House after they were feigning outrage over the baby formula shortage voted against funding for baby formula to get it back on the shelves for parents. Yet they claim they are "pro life" and for families. That's a lie because they are not "pro life". The GOP would have let babies starve because they did nothing to fund for the shortage. It was the Democrats who passed the bill to end the baby formula shortage.

The GOP House voted against a bill to stop Big Oil Companies from gouging consumers at the pump. They claim they want low gas prices but this bill would have lowered gas prices and they voted against it. Another GOP lie. The GOP is in bed with the oil industry and their vote just proved it. The GOP sided with Big Oil over the consumers by voting against a bill to lower gas prices and to stop Big Oil gouging.

The GOP House voted against a bill for Domestic Terrorism Prevention. We have a serious problem with white supremacy and violence thanks to Donald Trump, the right wing media, and GOP politicians who promote racist conspiracy theories to incite these radical domestic terrorists and neo nazi hate groups to cause violence. The number one job of an elected official is to keep communities safe, but the GOP refused to keep us safe. Republicans claim they are tough on crime but they just voted to show Americans they are soft on crime and violence.

Vote after vote the GOP votes against Americans. The GOP wants to sunset social security and Medicare meaning that Congress will have to vote for both to keep the programs running. After all this voting against Americans, do you honestly think the GOP would vote "yes" to save social security and Medicare when it's on the line? If you think they would, then I have ocean front property to sell you in the middle of the desert.

So, after all these "no votes" by Republicans....how are they "putting America First" when they voted against their own constituents?

What are the Republicans for? They voted against babies & parents, consumers, restaurant and small business owners, and the safety of all Americans. Sorry, that's not "America First" by voting against all Americans each time a bill comes to the floor.

If it wasn't for Democrats, we would have nothing, and we certainly wouldn't have the lowest unemployment rate in over 50 years and the most jobs created in history at 8.3 million and counting. It's Democrats who are getting the job done and doing the work Americans expect. Republicans are just there to troll and to cause chaos and division.

The GOP is the do nothing party and their voting record proves it because they do nothing to help the American people.

Full List of 203 Republicans Who Voted Against Domestic Terrorism Bill

The House of Representatives passed new legislation designed to deal with the threat of domestic terrorism on Wednesday along a largely party line vote, with just one Republican in favor.

Members of Congress approved the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act by a vote of 222 to 203, with Republican Representative Adam Kinzinger of Illinois joining Democrats in voting yes.

Four Republican members of the House didn't vote on the new legislation, which was passed in the wake of a mass shooting at a Tops supermarket in Buffalo, New York, that left 10 people dead.

President Joe Biden has described the attack, which authorities believe may have been racially motivated, as "domestic terrorism."

The bill would create an office of domestic terrorism in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI. It will now head to the evenly divide Senate.

This is the list of Republicans who voted against the bill, grouped by state in the link below.

President Biden @POTUS

I just toured a cutting-edge plant in the Republic of Korea that makes some of the most advanced semiconductor chips in the world. Thanks to the investment that Samsung is making, the United States will have a facility like this one in Texas — creating 3,000 good-paying jobs.

Yesterday, I wrote how Republicans couldn't care less about high gas prices. They only feign outrage on Twitter and grandstand in front of the cameras just so they can attack President Biden hoping to lower his popularity.

In the House of Representatives on Thursday, a bill came to the floor called "The Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act" which prevents Big Oil Companies from purposely gouging consumers for profits like they are doing now. That article is above in the quote. All the phony outrage the Republicans were putting on over gas prices was proven to be just that, because they voted against this bill which will lower gas prices for consumers. The simple fact is, Republicans don't want gas prices to be lower. They want gas prices to remain high so they can keep attacking President Biden for high prices he has no control over because Big Oil is purposely setting the prices high for profit. Their "no" vote proved it. Thankfully Democrats passed this bill and it moves on to the Senate.

Leader McConnell @LeaderMcConnell

Today marks 11 straight days of record-breaking gas prices. Getting to work, running errands, and hitting the highway for a modest family vacation all costs 88% more at the pump than it cost when President Biden put his hand on that Bible.

https://twitter.com/LeaderMcConnell/status/1527690084530667527

Yesterday Mitch McConnell, went on Twitter to feign outrage over high gas prices just so he could attack President Biden. Mitch was terribly ratioed as people weren't having any of his fake outrage. He has the "The Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act" all ready to be passed by Republicans in the Senate but instead he chooses to falsley smear President Biden on Twitter. Will the Republicans pass this bill to lower gas prices for consumers? The answer is no, they will do everything they can to prevent it from passing because they want prices to remain high so Mitch and his right wingers can scream at Biden on Twitter. Remember that the next time you fill up at the pump, gas prices would have been normal but Republicans won't allow it to be because they want you to pay more since they are hoping to score political points for the election. All they have to do is pass this bill to lower gas prices for consumers. And like I said on Thursday, this fake outrage from Republicans is nothing but political theatre. You just saw that with McConnell's tweet, all he has to do is pass the bill to lower gas prices so there are no reasons for these fake outrage tweets from him. It's GOP political theatre and all Republicans are doing it.

The United States is still paying less in gas than other countries which is significantly higher and Europeans would love to pay our lower prices than they are paying right now.

A Look at Gas Prices Around the World
Gas prices in the U.S. are often much less expensive than those in European countries like Norway and Denmark

At an average of $4.59 per gallon as of May 19, American consumers are dealing with the highest gas prices the nation has ever seen.

But the pain at the pump is actually much worse in some other countries. The global average price of a gallon of gas, in American dollars, is about $5.13, according to GlobalPetrolPrices.com. But there’s a wide range in the price paid by country.

Residents of Hong Kong pay the highest international gas prices, with one gallon setting them back $10.97. Norway has the second-highest gas prices at $9.64 per gallon, followed by Denmark where gas costs an average $9.32 per gallon.

“People say that it’s terrible that the price of gas here is over $4, but gas prices in Europe are $6 or $7,” says Giacomo Santangelo, an economist with Monster Intelligence. “To Europeans, $4 a gallon is nothing.”
