My biggest disappointment of Tuesday, November 2, is that a JFK Jr. impersonator did not show up, announce that he is JFK Jr., and that he is “Q”, and that he and Donald Trump will be running together in the 2024 Presidential Election.

I have always distance myself from the MAGA supporters who tried to reverse the results of the 2020 election. Just as many Democrat dispute the legitimacy of the 2000 and 2004 elections, MAGA has the right to their opinion as well. However, once the Congress certified the electoral college result, the game was over. The result was official and nothing was going to change it.

This past weekend, there was a very controversial ending to the Western Michigan/Michigan football game and many people, myself included, think Western Michigan got screwed. I didn't buy the Big 10's defense of how the replay was handled and it appears the replay officials did not follow established protocols when they decided to put one more second back on the clock. This gave Michigan one more play which they used to throw a game winning TD pass.

Yesterday, the Mid-American Conference appealed to the NCAA to reverse the outcome of the game. As much as I believe the wrong decision was made and the wrong team won, the outcome cannot be reversed. By rule, once the referee declares the game over, it's over. Whether we are talking about sports or politics, even if you think your side got screwed, once the outcome has been decided, there is no reversing it. When Congress certified the electoral college count in January 2021, the result was official and there was no legal means to reverse it. At some point you simply have to accept the outcome, no matter how much you believe it was wrong. From that point on, I think Trump and his followers, of which I am one, should have put it in the rearview mirror and moved on.

That's not what they said. The clock on the main scoreboard is the official time and it is what the game officials go by when determining when a period has expired. The discrepancy came in the two replays. The two replays were not both in sync with the stadium clock. The replay booth decided the one that showed the pass had been touched before the clock reached 0:00 was the correct one. They ignored the protocol that said when such a discrepancy exists, they are supposed to go with the one that the TV viewers have seen. Had they done so, there would be no controversy, and Western Michigan would have won the game.

I'm old enough to remember when the scoreboard clock was not the official clock in NFL games. The officials kept the official time on the field and it frequently was not in sync with the scoreboard clock. I can also remember when some stadium clocks were not digital but had a clock face with hands to indicate minutes and seconds. The reason the NFL has had the two minute warning for so long and until recently college football did not is that it let everyone know how much official time is remaining and allow the stadium clock to get back in sync with the time being kept on the field for the final two minutes. Even then, the stadium clock would get out of sync with the official time. Sometimes the game would end before the stadium clock reached zeros and sometimes the game would continue even after the stadium clock reached zeros. I think it was in the mid-1960s that the NFL made the scoreboard clock the official timepiece for its games.
