The Grassy Knoll Gunman Paradox

If Lee Bowers was watching the back of the picket fence where he said there were two men, and Sam Holland ran immediately around after the shots were fired and saw no one at the picket fence, then which one is telling the truth? Bowers or Holland?

Furthermore if the assassin (or assassins) went into the trunk of a car after firing the shots, as Holland suggests is a possibility, then why didn't Bowers see a man or men getting into a trunk of a car?

Why not both?

That's an impossible question to answer. And even if it could be answered, it wouldn't get you very far because Bowers not seeing these men get into a car doesn't mean it didn't happen.

I believe it was Vincent Bugliosi who said that the two men Bowers claimed to have seen had actually moved over towards the concrete arcade by the time the shots were actually fired. This is the vicinity where 2 men can be seen with groundskeeper Hudson on the steps leading down from the picket fence to Elm street.

Its likely that the two men who Bowers saw behind the picket fence had moved down near Hudson at the time of the actual shots and this is why Holland doesn't see anyone when he runs to the back of the picket fence.

In his testimony Bowers said the men he had seen were wearing some kind of uniform. The men standing near Hudson were not.

If his eyesight was good enough that he could tell they were wearing uniform, then he could tell if they opened a trunk of a car and jumped in.

If he was watching them all the time. There is no point in speculating.

I watched a short interview with Bowers once, in which he seemed to be vague and not really forthcoming with details. Even if he did see the men get into a car, he may simply not have said out of fear to get involved in something he didn't want to be involved with. We will never know. The answer died with Bowers.

Martin Weidman: "There is no point in speculating."

Martin Weidman, two sentences later: "Even if he did see the men get into a car, he may simply not have said out of fear to get involved in something he didn't want to be involved with."

Lee Bowers was reticent about even telling his own parents what he saw on the day. According to them, what he actually saw he may have told to his brother, he died (and I guess he never told their parents also).
