How can i find William Gaudets HSCA testimony?

I'm studying William Gaudets assertion that he saw Oswald and Bannister together in deep conversation in New Orleans in 1963.

Has anyone got a link to his HSCA testimony? I can't find it anywhere online and I am not great using the national archives website.

This document https://history-matters.com/archive/jfk/hsca/report/pdf/HSCA_Report_6_References.pdf    seems to reference Gaudets HSCA testimony as (JFK Document 010347). I don't know what to do with that number though.

Also this website https://kennedysandking.com/john-f-kennedy-articles/mexico-city-part-1    references a HSCA interview of William Gaudet. The reference number it provides is:

National Archives, HSCA 180-10070-10274, Numbered Files 004826; HSCA interview of William Gaudet

It is described as a 1978 deposition with interviewer Sanders.

Until you find it,

Thanks for those two links. Informative, but i'd like to have a look at his actual HSCA testimony. Bit lost here. I've tried the search function on history-matters here: https://history-matters.com/search/search.htm   but its not bringing up his HSCA testimony.

Anyone got a clue how to find it?

Sorry, Gerry, it looks like you'll have to order it from the archives. The Mary Ferrell site is far from complete. A decade or so ago, I realized that the Ferrell site didn't have the HSCA testimony of Det. Robert Studebaker. So I ordered it myself. And wow. Studebaker admitted he'd handed out copies of the backyard photos to his fellow cops as souvenirs, and that he'd tried to sell a complete set of the DPD's evidence photos to the media (or whomever) through a middle-man with mafia connections. This was the guy left alone at the crime scene while Lt. Day took the rifle over to the crime lab.

In any event, I sent my copy of his testimony over to Rex Bradford, and he added it to the Mary Ferrell site.

So we have a guy, William Gaudet, saying that he saw Oswald and Guy Banister in deep conversation beside a post office box in New Orleans and the Mary Ferrell site doesn't even have it?

Isn't this kind of one of the more important testimonies of the JFK assassination?

How do you order something from the archives? Is this the National Archives at this link: https://www.archives.gov/research/jfk

Yes, that's the site. I think they have a page for the JFK records collection, and an email address for questions. As discussed on my website, I went through a whole bunch of hoops a few years back but was ultimately successful in convincing the archives to take some pictures of Oswald's shirt. I haven't been in contact since. But that shouldn't stop you. Receiving records was a lot easier than convincing them to take a picture, in my experience.

FWIW, Banister's personal secretary (and later fiance before he died) was Delphine Roberts. She was interviewed (January '67) by the Garrison people during his investigation into the assassination. She told Garrison's investigators that Banister would meet and talk to leftwing people as part of his intelligence gathering operation (he was a private investigator at that time). So this may be an innocent explanation for the alleged Banister/Oswald sighting.

It's interesting to note that at no time in the interview did she mention Banister ever meeting Oswald, of Oswald ever being in the office, of having any association with Oswald. Later in interviews, in the late 1970s, she would claim that Oswald regularly came into Banister's office.

Here is what she told the Garrison investigators about Banister's work:
"Mr. Banister had many different characters in and out of the office, not on the payroll. Many claimed to be private investigators. Others just were interested in giving him information knowing of his former connections with the FBI. His advice was sought at time and given sometimes in return for information or sometimes in form of a fee. Mr. Banister was connected with people associated with both the conservative elements as well as the Communist element or "Left Wing." He often told me being in the type work he was - security - you rub shoulders with all kinds of characters in order to be able to get information from both sides....He received information from all over...."

Posner covers her in his book Case Closed. The way he paints her in that book does not make her sound credible at all.
