Maybe Old Joe was asking if Jackie Chan was in the audience.  At least he is still alive even if his career is not.

A common MAGA claim is that Joseph Biden was too old to become President in 2021. Biden was born on November 20, 1942. So when he was sworn in as President he was 78 years and 2 months old.

Trump was born on June 14, 1946. If he is elected in 2024, he will be 78 years and 7 months old when he is sworn in.

So how is it that Biden was too old to be President but Trump will not be too old in 2025?

Biden is unusually healthy for an 80 year old man. He does not smoke or drink alcohol. He can still ride a bicycle, which is very unusual for someone who is 80.

In contrast, Trump is not particularly healthy for his age. He too does not smoke or drink alcohol. But he is clearly overweight. His exercise seems to consist of riding around in a golf cart and playing golf. If he walked and carried his own golf clubs, it would be different. But still not equivalent to riding a bicycle. And Stephen Colbert called Trump "The Count of Mostly Cristo" which, given Trump's obvious physical condition, is a pretty good description.

Signs of Biden's "dementia" are not particularly strong. Forgetting a congresswoman had recently died? There are over 400 members of congress. She might have been someone he didn't know that well. With a lot going on in his life, yes, it's possible for someone to forget the passing of a causal acquittance. The same might happen to someone who is 40. Introducing his sister to a crowd while pointing at his wife? While facing the crowd, it's possible someone might forget whether his sister was off to his right or his left, and is mostly concentrating on making a connection with the audience. Mistakes are bound to be made when one makes a lot of speeches.

For 2024, it's important for the Democrats to have the strongest possible candidate to run. Because, barring a sudden downturn in Trump's health, making it impossible for him to run, the Democratic candidate is going to have to beat Donald Trump. And the survival of democracy depends on Trump losing that election. Because of his age, Biden is not the ideal candidate. It's an issue the Republicans can use. But I'm not certain there is a stronger candidate. Although Gavin Newsom looks pretty good to me.

Biden is a good President and would be a good president for 2025-2029. And he is not Trump. But I want the strongest possible candidate to be running in 2024.

It's not strictly a question of age.  Biden has had two brain operations.  He clearly has some type of cognitive issue.  Even Dems can't deny that his behavior is bizarre.  Likely dementia.  Many people in their 80s can be fully functional.  Biden is not one of those people.  His family should intervene to spare him further humiliation.  Trump is a cognitive genius compared to Biden.

And while other Republicans, like Governor Ron DeSantis, hold very similar views to Donald Trump on the various issues, and, unlike Trump or Biden, have no problem with being too old, DeSantis will only be 46 years old in January 2025, only Trump gives the MAGA crowd what they need. A clear distain for the law, a clear distain for the will of the people, and will struggle as hard as he can to get his appointed successor elected in 2028, by declaring invalid the 2028 election, if need be. And establish an Authoritarian state in America. Like the one the Russians are enjoying now.

What Trump gave America was results.  No wars, controlling the border, low gas prices, no inflation, and a booming stock market.   All that has gone to smash under Old Joe.  A complete disaster.  No one, not even the most radical Dem, can suggest that things are going better in America.  Disliking Trump is not grounds to destroy the entire country.  He might be a SOB but who cares if he is a nice guy?  Liking Old Joe doesn't solve any problems.  He has been a disaster.  If he had any competent people in his administration, perhaps it wouldn't matter.  But he has surrounded himself with woke amateurs based on gender, race, and sexual orientation.  Complete buffoons.  We are on the brink of war with Russia.  N. Korea is firing missiles across Japan.  China is closing in on Taiwan and we have a bunch of incompetents in charge.  A dangerous situation.  DeSantis is a viable candidate in 2024.  No republican is ruling him out.  Almost anything is an improvement over PaPa Joe and Kamala.

The leftist media has recently pivoted from trying to convince voters that abortion and "Jan. 6" would lead the Dems to victory to preparing them for a landslide defeat.  The bottom has dropped out of the polls for Dems.  Even support among women and minorities is flagging.  A terrible sign for the Dems.  Maybe next time they will focus on real problems (the ones they created) instead of living in some type of alternative reality.
