That's because you've increased the shadow cover, Mr Mitcham.

Try just erasing the handrail shadow and leaving the rest alone!  Thumb1:



 Of course I've increased the shadow cover. I removed the wide  handrail on the side wall. Doh!!!!

By removing the side rail, it increases the amount of space available for somebody standing in the shadow.

Removing the side rail does not increase the amount of shadow on the steps and landing. Yet that's what your altered version of Mr Speer's photograph does. You need to fix it!  Thumb1:

"different rail" Yes, and the present rail is even wider than the one shown in the link.

Read my last post again, Alan.  I said it increases the amount of space, in the shadow, available for somebody to stand in. It isn't very hard to understand.
