Was it a mistake for JFK to not invade Cuba?

I say absolutely and history would have to agree
No invasion leads directly to the missile crises

It would have been Good for the Cubans who have suffered the most under communist rule and trade embargoes. Good for American business who at one time was flourishing in Cuba and good for US citizens who loved to leave Miami for a weekend of gambling and debauchery

How can you argue not invading Cuba but in the same breath
justify the war in Vietnam?
How could the US tolerate an independent communist country so close?
(yes US intelligence knew early on Castro was a leftist)

I am not talking about after the BOP disaster
too late
I am saying he should have committed sooner rather than later
THEN fire Dulles and his cronies for trying to manipulate the US military
The CIA is supposed to manipulate other governments, not their own

IMO huge mistake for everyone concerned especially for JFK
Who was subsequently murdered

thoughts?

Eddie, as a Cuban I wish Kennedy had intervened militarily during the BOP invasion but I don't think the majority of the Cuban people at the time would have been very happy about it. This may come as a surprise to you but Cubans really wanted to be free to run the island without any interference from outside powers, including, and in some cases, particularly, the US.  Back in April, 1961 no one really could have predicted that Castro would remain in power for over 50 years and that he would run the country as his personal communist fiefdom.

yeah
Retrospect is always 20/20
It's easy for me to say today "history proved me right" sure
But back then?
So agree with you 100%
But it wouldn't have taken long once all the job's had gone
for people to realise it was US trade and investment making the country profitable employing thousands

We still justify today invading country's and overturning government's
to one's more to our liking
They wouldn't have made it  another state
Just install another friendly "Batista" or even better have the Cubans
vote for 2 US approved candidates and call it democracy
we do it all the time (Its the CIA's main job!)  LOL arab spring?

I still think It would have saved the mans life
The pressure on him I'm sure was enormous
but when those missiles went in...
Le May and Lemnitzer exchange a glance
and thats your ass
