The clipboard was used as a "marker" for the location to hide the rifle on his way to the back stairs. You may be right in suggesting that the paper bag containing the rifle was hidden in the same location.

Cunning Oswald probably thought: Who cares if someone opens the package and finds the disassembled rifle. I can claim I brought it to work with the intention of taking it to a gun shop (during my lunch hour) to have a new telescopic sight fitted or some other plausible excuse.

Mescaline?

Lee was trying to find the rifle parts that fell out of the open end of the paper bag he was seen carrying that morning. He then asked BRW if he could help him. He was going to ask Dougherty but no one knew where he was. ;D

Amazing how everything that Lee did had sinister intentions.

Do you know what Dougherty was up to in the same time Lee was unaccounted for?

  • Mr. FRITZ. I wasn't there when that was recovered.

You got the drift of my post James.   :)

Like me, with Dougherty, you also have no idea what Oswald did either.

Both men had no clear corroborated alibis.

Hence, speculation on intent or otherwise is just that.

Recently I came across something that I would like to see some discussion of here:
Often LNS like myself mention Our Boys' clipboard, appropriated from a co-worker  FRANKIE KAISER,  was discovered several days later with unfilled orders still on it.
But Frazier told a friend of mine the order sheets were turned in as the orders were filled...so, common sense tells us the unfilled order sheets don't really mean much.
In looking through various testimonies  it appears there was no way to track which filled order was  turned in by any particular TSBD employee afterward, which seems odd for any business concentrating on quality control .
Frazier said in his testimony he saw LHO filling orders that morning so (rightly) scoffs at the idea the unfilled order sheets found on the clipboard mean anything.

The clipboard was found on the 6th floor, which seems to indicate he could have filled some orders but how was it left on that floor?
Did he take it back up to the 6th after filling other orders and just leave it there before going down for lunch?
Why would he have done that?
Should we accept that supervisors had not kept track of who had filled certain orders?

What Was Oswald Doing Friday Morning?

Mr. BALL - What was your job at the Depository in November of 1963, last fall?
Mr. JARMAN - Checker.
Mr. BALL - What does a checker do?
Mr. JARMAN - He checks various orders, books and things that go out to different schools.
Mr. BALL - Do the order fillers bring the books down to where you have your----
Mr. JARMAN - Right.
Mr. BALL - On a table. You have a table?
Mr. JARMAN - I have a table with a scale and I weigh these books up and put the upholstery on them and put them and put them on a little conveyor and the wrappers wrap them or pack them, whichever one it may be.
Mr. BALL - Did you know Lee Oswald?
Mr. JARMAN - Only as a coworker.
Mr. BALL - Did you ever talk to him while he was working there?
Mr. JARMAN - I have had him to correct orders at various times. That is about all.

Mr. BALL. What kind of work did you do when you first went with the Texas School Book Depository?
Mr. WILLIAMS. I think the first day I started work there they started me off as a wrapper. Then the fellows told me that I had qualifications to be a checker, so they put me on as a checker there.
Mr. BALL. What are you doing now?
Mr. WILLIAMS. At the present time I do anything--check, pack, fill orders, anything.

Sooner or later Shelley would know who repeatedly screwed up. According to Frazier they worked from computer print outs... I doubt they would push back into the computer who the order filler was, given the technoligy of the day...

It's just so odd that the clipboard was left on the 6th floor.
If LHO had not found the Scott Foresman books he needed up there and there were also Scott Foresman books on the 1st floor ...
Why abandon the clipboard on the 6th just a few feet from the rifle was later found, just to go to lunch?
Givens said to Oswald, "Boy are you going downstairs? ... It's near lunch time." Oswald said, "No, sir....."
Before noon!
What was Oswald doing for that half hour?
Hiding his clipboard?
So ironic, the swap of a tool for a book store employee for that of an assassin found just feet apart.

Um, how about he checked the 1st floor before going to sixth...?

Clipboard = Rabbit hole

"Rabbit hole"
I don't think so.
Clearly leaving the clipboard on the 6th floor is  strong evidence he was there at the very least at the end of his "work day".
Unless one thinks he was anywhere else working without it. ::)

Or of course the old standby....EVERYTHING was faked.
Or the other standby...divert to Dougherty.

If you remove your prior bias of "Lee was the assassin because the WC said so" what significance do you attribute to the presence of the clipboard on a floor where he was permitted to obtain books from?

The clip board was discovered on December 2, 1963 - do you know it was Lee that placed it there on the 22nd of November?

Could Oswald have got it without a prescription?

Now your own bias is showing as you struggle with this uncomfortable aspect.
I can't accept pixies were moving things around hoping that in 55 years someone might use the location the clipboard was found to help indicate his last known location (working) was on the 6th floor...before 12:30
Can you show it was moved at all between 11-22-63 and 12-1-63?
Or is it just that you hope so?
BTW I do not think  "Lee was the assassin because the WC said so" ...that's a Caprio straw man argument and you are normally more grown up.
TY for dropping the Dougherty diversion.
