Title: Did Tippit phone police that Oswald was inside the Texas Theatre?
Post by: Gerry Down on April 13, 2020, 02:00:01 PM
At surface level, Tippit and Oswald seem to have some sort of unusual connection. After the assassination, from the Gloco gas station, Tippit was watching as Oswald came over the Houston street viaduct in Whaleys cab. Tippit then immediately sped off according to the witnesses there. There is suspicion that Tippit may have been the one that honked the horn outside Oswalds house. Just after 1pm Oswald went into the Texas Theatre. Around the same time, Tippit made a phonecall from the Top Ten Records Store across the street.

Several anonymous calls were made to the DPD advising that someone suspicious had entered the Texas Theatre. This is unusual in itself because it should not be immediately obvious to anyone in the street that a man had entered the theater and not paid. Could Tippit have anonymously phoned in Oswalds location? And then drove around Oak Cliff pretending to not know where Oswald was, and got shot on a completely unrelated call. This would mean Oswald shot Kennedy, but there is some unknown relationship between Oswald and Tippit.

What was Tippit even doing at the Gloco gas station so far away from his assigned district 78. That is like a 20 minute drive away.

Well, I think Tippit was dead at the time Oswald sneaked into the theater but that's another issue. Dale Myers said he interviewed the two record store eyewitnesses who said Tippit came into the store to make a call. According to their accounts Tippit never spoke a word. One of the individuals - the store owner J.W. Stark - guessed that he (Tippit) let the phone ring seven or eight times but again, in his account, no one answered. Or at least, Tippit didn't talk during the alleged call.

Stark also said that Oswald came into his store the morning of the assassination and bought a ticket to "the Dick Clark show." The evidence is that Oswald was on his way to work at the time.

As to the gas station: it's anyone's guess. Although if you read the other accounts of the officers (see "No More Silence" for example) and what they did that day there seemed to be a "routine" of pretty much going places on their own volition.

I'm going on the theoretical timeline if Oswald entered the theatre at about 1:06pm like some people suggest.

Is this an accepted fact?  Doesn't it seem strange that LHO would buy a ticket to the Dick Clark Show?

Leaving the question...What ever happened to said ticket and did he also buy a plane ticket to Philly?
