Not mentioned in this informative article is the fact that CIA Counterintelligence Staff analyst Clare Edward Petty told Dick Russell in 1977 (iirc) that, based on his close reading of some WW II VENONA decrypts, George DeMohrenschildt, who had immigrated to the U.S. in 1938, was probably a long term KGB "illegal". His older brother, Dimitri Mohrenschildt, had immigrated to the U.S. in 1920, and, of course, served in the Communist-riddled OSS during the war and co-founded Radio Free Europe. He may have been working for the State Department at the time of the assassination.
His nephew, Edward G. Hooker, shared a cottage with George H. W. Bush at Yale ...
