The Mighty Tanenbaum Strikes Out, Part One

Robert Tanenbaum, briefly Deputy Counsel for the HSCA, has written an incredibly mediocre book. And he fell for a fake document that fools almost no one else - except Robert Groden. My first review looks at what is in Tanenbaum's book. the second part will look at what is NOT in Tanenbaum's book. Stay tuned.

Tanenbaum wrote the introduction for Mark Lane's last book, "Last Word", and included his claim about confronting Phillips in the HSCA investigation over the so-called "Hoover memo" and the Mexico City tapes. The same claim that Hardway essentially revealed as complete fiction. So this wasn't a one-off by him; he's repeated the story numerous times. And he also says that Lane gave him the memo, the same one he says he confronted Phillips with in his imaginary interrogation.

Tanenbaum, Sprague, Fonzi....none of these people should have been investigating the assassination. They are/were conspiracy believers not objective investigators. They wanted to "get" the CIA not figure out what happened. It's clear that's what Tanenbaum wanted to do. They were caught up in the times, that 1970s period of the "Family Jewels" and other abuses by the CIA et al. that had been exposed. So it's somewhat understandable at the time what influenced them. But there's no excuse for repeating this nonsense now.
