This early childhood story might suggest there was a deep rooted sadist nature in Oswald:
Mr. EVANS - We took them over to my sister-in-law's place, across the lake.
Mr. JENNER - When you say across the lake, which lake is that?
Mr. EVANS - Lake Pontchartrain.
Mr. JENNER - And where's your sister-in-law's place across the lake?
Mr. EVANS - At Sun, La. They are in the sand and gravel business over there, and they have a private pond to fish in, you know, and they stock it themselves and they have some nice fish in there, and so Lee and the boys were down there fishing, but Lee didn't talk to the other kids or anything. He just seemed to want to be alone, and he just fished by himself, and the odd part of his behavior that we all thought was very strange was the way he would just let the fish die on the bank after he would catch them. Now, the other small boys would catch them and, and if there was enough for eating and everything, they would throw the others back, but not Lee. He would pull them in and jus throw them down on the river - I mean on the bank by the pond and just let them lay there, and when he got through he just walked off and left them there. Something like that is hard to understand. He didn't catch them for eating, and he didn't want to throw them back in. He just left them on the bank and walked off after he got tired of fishing. We couldn't understand that at all. It showed how totally inconsiderate he was of everything. It was a good example of how he acted, and his general attitude.
Mr. JENNER - How old was he at that time?
Mr. EVANS - He was just a young fellow.
Mr. JENNER - About 13, 14 or 15 years old, would you say?
Mr. EVANS - Yes; somewhere around there. I believe he was going to Warren Easton at the time, or he went to Easton shortly after that.
When you add this to other facts like:
- Putting out cigarette butts on his wifes arm.
- Slapping his mother
- Shooting Tippit while lying on the ground.
.....one wonders if an unexamined motive behind the JFK assassination was the pleasure he could cause both the Kennedy family and the nation as a whole by killing the popular JFK while in his prime.

He was sicker than that Margaret. He shot himself in the arm, attempted suicide, attempted murder (Walker). I think his actions were more for the shock value and hence attention he would bring to himself. Read his own words:
he wrote this on his stationary, “I wonder what would happen if someone would stand up and ... to governments, but to the people, to the entire land and complete foundation of his society.“
He was a nut.

Putting out cigarette butts on his wifes arm
>>> Maybe she was a masochist and liked it
Slapping his mother
>>> Mommy Dearest was highly slappable: She bathed the little prick until age 11, FFS
Shooting Tippit while lying on the ground
>>> He was lying on the ground when he shot Tippit?
;)

Robert Oswald says it in his book "Lee - A Portrait Of Lee Harvey Oswald". He slapped her when he was 12-13 years old.

I’ve been looking for a copy of that book. If anyone has one that they would like to sell or loan please let me know.

You can get it on amazon. You'll pay for it though. It can be around the $100 mark.
There's not an awful lot in it tbh. He comes across as a logical guy, and had suspicions on Michael Paine for some reason. However his reasoning for suspecting Michael Paine was poor. Seemed to be based mostly on the fact Robert got a bad vibe off Michael Paine.

Yes, I have seen those inflated prices. And I don’t think I am interested in spending that much on it. Thanks for the review. There was something intriguing that I read somewhere that Michael reportedly said in the book. I wanted to verify it. But, at this moment, I just can’t remember what it was. If I remember, I will post it and hopefully someone can check it out.

He seemed like a down to earth guy. His biggest blunder was probably giving his permission to have LHO exhumed. When Marina wanted it, he was the only one holding it back. I dont think it would have gone ahead without his permission. Eventually he gave in and allowed it. The whole thing turned into a debacle resulting in pictures of LHOs head on the internet and the undertaker trying to sell the coffin.
Safe to say the Kennedy family will never allow the same thing to happen to JFK.

I saw the original JFK gravesite in person in the mid to late sixties. It had a small white picket fence around it. They revised it a few years later and had to move JFK accordingly. But I agree with you that (appropriately) the Kennedys will never allow that type of thing to happen.

Wow.
From one, anecdotal, unverified item , a whole psychological profile can be created.
Truly, - no, not Roy - this is the Rosetta stone. The source of the Nile.

Not mentioned in any sworn testimony that I've ever read.
Does not mean that someone will become a killer [No evidence that Lee was]
Robert Oswald did not write that book.
-
Wow.

Thanks!

I've heard of a lot of animal cruelty things but torturing fish is a new one. If fish were left on a bank to die...I feel certain that someone would come along and either throw them back in the water or take them home and slice their heads off..clean and eat them ::)

Nice piece of history to be able to remember. Only seen it in photos myself.
I think there is a rumor RFK buried the brain with JFK when they moved him (i think in 1967) to the new gravesite. This might explain why it is "missing".

Exactly nice pick up, you have the same feeling as any normal person would have, but apparently the wife beating suicidal Oswald couldn't give a stuff about life.

That is what I have read also. It wouldn’t surprise me if the rumor turned out to be true.

Margaret,
If the fish flopped backwards, it means it was caught from the front, and that the whole tragic event was, therefore, yet another evil, evil, evil CIA conspiracy!
-- MWT ;)
-
Ok, but did he kill the fish? There are eyewitnesses.
The fish were the primary witnesses, but fish don't have eyelids so their eyeballs fried like eggs. They were all schooled as patsies. So much for safety in numbers. Little darling Lee got a weird vibe, dropped his rod, and promptly exited the area... missing the forest for the trees, not caring what anyone else thought or said.
-
How many fish did he kill and what was the timing between each catch?

I don't believe Oswald was a "sadist" in the traditional sense. A sadist is someone who takes pleasure from inflicting pain. The infliction of pain is the objective. Oswald definitely had a screw loose but his behavior was more consistent with that of a sociopath. Someone who is completely lacking in empathy and has egotistical traits. That enabled Oswald to lie or commit murder without any feeling of remorse when he felt it suited his needs. The pain he inflicted in others was a byproduct of his lack of empathy and ego.
-
Yeah, cruelty to fish is a new one to me too. :o
It’s somehow less cruel if you eat them afterwards?
-
Oswald may have been venting some internal anger by allowing the fish to die on the bank like that.
-

Iacoletti,
We should all just live on Prana, because even organically grown bean sprouts feel pain, too!

How about, it isn't cruel at all? There is nothing about fishing that is cruel. Those fish that Oswald left on the bank did not go to waste.

Where's the beef: How do you feel about cows. Same deal?
Do you tip them over by any chance? That would annoy them I suppose.. plus you could tease them with 'Help. I've fallen and can't get up. Moooo."
Although appearing to be cowed, they asked the pigs (who were more equal than the other animals because they said so) for guidance, who in turn encouraged them to eat more baked beans, try not to tip over, and lift a hind leg to the falling sky. The result made the animals on the farm hee-haw, quack, moo, purr, gobble, bleat, baa, cluck, oink, bark, hoot, neigh, hiss, chirp, and cock-a-doodle-doo their approval of Orwell the Head Pig's advice as the cows farted away the ozone layer.

But they're getting revenge right under our noses as they fart away the ozone layer
I love cattle. In fact, I had planned on eating a big fatty prime rib grilling steak tonight but ended up having salmon instead.
Cattle are not getting revenge on us at all. The claim that their burps are causing global warming is not something that I buy into. We need to eat more beef and other red meat, and more animal products altogether. It's good for us. Our health suffers when we abstain from eating animals.
