This has become a joke

Florida just executed a murderer for a crime he committed in 1986. FORTY FREAKING YEARS AGO!!!

To put that in perspective, this scum was on death row 11 years longer than his victim was on this earth. Why the hell should it require 40 years to exhaust the appellate process. It should take no more than five years to complete the process. The condemned persons lawyers should get one bit of the apple and raise whatever objections they have to the process all at once. They shouldn't be allowed to delay an execution indefinitely by raising new issues after a previous appeal got rejected. After five years, the only acceptable grounds for appeal should be if there is compelling evidence that there was a wrongful conviction. Otherwise, adios.

The early eugenics movements in the 20s argued for using condemned prisoners for scientific experiments on the brain, with their permission.

I'm all for that. Find out if the human brain can survive a blast from a 12 gauge shotgun with double-aught buck at close range.
