By some accounts, LHO in MC said he wanted to assassinate JFK.
The JFKA was likely plotted after it was announced JFK would visit Dallas, where by chance LHO resided.
The motorcade route was bad luck.
LHO and confederates took advantage of circumstance. The plot was very simple. Two or three guys with guns.
Fidel Castro ordered Cuban intel to monitor Dallas radio transmissions before the JFKA. He knew something was up.
"By some accounts"? Do you mean unnamed sources?
Yes, it the motorcade route was bad luck. It was dictated by the selection of the Trade Mart for the luncheon. It was always going to go through downtown Dallas on Main St. From there, the quickest and most logical way to get to the Trade Mart was to jog over to Elm St. to get on the Stemmons Freeway.
Chance circumstances brought JFK into rifle range of Oswald's workplace. The odds of that happening by chance were quite small, but we don't know how many psychopaths there were in this country who would have done what Oswald did if given the chance. Given we had a president with a fondness for slow moving motorcades in open top cars, it doesn't seem far fetched that at some point, he might cross paths with one of them. JFK's bad luck was Oswald's good luck. He won the assassin's lottery.
The JFKA was a crime of opportunity committed by Oswald. There is no credible evidence Oswald had any "confederates". It was a one-man job. He didn't need any confederates to carry it out.
