"LBJ ordered the USS Liberty set up in an isolated position so Moshe Dayan and the IDF could sink it so the crime could be blamed on Egypt so LBJ would have a pretext to militarily attack and remove Nasser from power. I don't think LBJ originally had plans to nuke Cairo, rather I think his extreme recklessness almost caused that result which would have ended up with the Russians nuking Israel as a response.

You may wonder what the 1967 USS Liberty ship disaster---a horrible friendly fire incident---has to do with the JFKA. Well, in truth, nothing.

But it is a topic of recurrent interest in the (dis)Education Forum, where the attack is understood by all to have been intentional by the Jewish state of Israel. Sometimes LBJ in involved. By one account, LBJ had four jets en route, loaded with a-bombs, to nuke-drop on Cairo, but the attack was called off when the incompetent Israelis didn't actually sink the USS Liberty.
