Mark Lane may or may not have had flaws.
So might Fred Litwin, or myself.
Attacking the messenger, not the message, is stale and old.
James DiEugenio recently devoted great length in the rapidly declining Ed Forum to assassinating the character of Michael McCowan. Why?
Michael McCowan, who was an investigator for Sirhan’s defense team, privately shared this anecdote regarding a conversation he had with Sirhan during a prison visitation:
The Content: During a reconstruction of the crime, Sirhan told McCowan that he intended to shoot Robert F. Kennedy between the eyes, but explained that "the son of a bitch turned his head at the last second".
---30---
That's what I think happened, btw. RFK turned his head, and Sirhan shot RFK the back of the head.
This character assassination goes on in both directions. Silvia Odio claims to have met LHO. So questions are raised about her mental health.
Mark Lane was perhaps a self-promoter, perhaps vainglorious.
But which observations of his hold water, and which do not?
