Why was Nosenko so desperate to tell us the KGB had nothing to do with LHO?
Benjamin Cole:

For me, the interesting angle is that there were KGB assets in the CIA, and one of them, Bruce Solie, was somehow manipulating LHO.
Maybe Newman has flubbed certain parts of his narrative on Solie.
But, on the Big Stuff--is Newman right, Solie was a KGB asset?
This chimes with Victor Marchetti's observation that the CIA was so riddled with KGB assets he was not sure who was running what.
Tennent Bagley was open to the idea Solie was a KGB asset.
After reading Solie's presentation to the HSCA, so am I.
Tom Graves:

I believe so, so the question in my mind now becomes, "Was Solie not only protecting himself, but arranging for Oswald to be trained as a KGB assassin?"
