A question for John M. Newman about Solie's sending LHO to Moscow

(1/3) > >>

Tom Graves:
A question for John M. Newman, author of "Uncovering Popov's Mole"

Given the fact that GRU Lt. Col. Pyotr Popov allegedly told his case officer, probable mole George Kisevalter, about the U-2 leak in April of 1958, is it realistic that probable mole Solie in the Office of Security would take seventeen months to choose U-2 radar operator Oswald and prepare him to go to Moscow as an ostensible "dangle" in a planned-to-fail hunt -- in the wrong part of the CIA -- for the source of that leak (Solie)?

Was it really necessary for Oswald to learn Russian before he walked into Consul Snyder's office, say he wanted to renounce his American citizenship and tell him (and the microphones in the walls) that he planned to commit espionage against the US?

You raise legitimate questions regarding Newman's take, or premise, that there was a high-level CIA plot to remove JFK from office, somehow connected to Cuba, Vietnam and NSAM 263.

We keep reading speculations about such a plot...but nothing solid.

Keep in mind, JFK was an ardent anti-communist, and Vietnam in 1963 was just not that important. And JFK's plan was to  Vietnamize the resistance to communist aggression, not walk away.

Cuban exiles angered at the Bay of Pigs? Maybe. Alpha 66?

LHO as G2 or KGB pawn? Not explored enough.

If not for the implausible 17-month "so he could learn Russian" screening-and-training of Oswald gap, I could buy Newman's assertion that KGB mole Bruce Leonard Solie (look him up) sent LHO to Moscow as an ostensible "dangle" in a (unbeknownst to Angleton and Oswald) planned-to-fail hunt for "Popov's U-2 Mole" (Solie) in the wrong part of the CIA.

I don't believe there was a "high-level CIA (sic; Newman says Army) plot to remove JFK," however.

Why are you conflating the two and/or insinuating that I believe in both?

Benjamin Cole:

I am not suggesting you believe there was a high-level plot (CIA or Army) to perp the JFKA. You have been clear that you prefer the LN-JFKA explanation.

You are correct (AFAIK) that Newman leans towards an Army plot to perp the JFKA. It is interesting that Alpha 66 had moved under Army aegis by 11/63.

However, the Alpha 66'ers don't strike me as the kind of people who need permission to perp an assassination.

All of this is speculation.

Does "LN-JFKA explanation" mean "Lone Gunman Advocate"?
