The Dems have one thing going for them. The impact of the decades long anti-Trump propaganda campaign. I would say 50-70% of the population has been influenced.
Seems like a reasonably good estimate. It even affects some GOP voters.
Strangely, not the usual suspects on the left but many older, white, college educated types who have been convinced that Trump hating is a noble cause. They can go out for an hour on "No King's" day and then knock off for a swanky lunch before returning to their gated communities. They are not personally affected by the loony leftist policies they espouse. They can't articulate exactly why they are obsessed with and hate Trump. Rather, they can only repeat generalizations. It's virtue signaling to show how much they hate Trump. The younger anarchist types who protest ICE are all very unhappy and angry people. Some of them likely get paid or at least funded to attend these riots and cause chaos but they all seem unhappy with their lives and channel that self-loathing to these events that lend themselves to venting that anger.
Part of the problem is the Democrat base but I put much of the blame on the Democrat leadership. A majority of them know the positions their party has adopted are insane but they are too cowardly to speak out against it for fear of being primaried. So to get along, they go along. There are crazies in both major parties as well as among independents and third party members but the Democrats have allowed them to take over the driver's seat.
