"Sports Center" and ESPN are nothing more than a Sports Betting "propaganda" hub. I turned it on last night to see how they were going to "spin" the "Boston Massacre" that went down with the mass terminations there. ESPN buried this story 20 minutes into "Sports Center". If you do Not believe this mass "disappearing" was Not connected to the "cheating" scandal that traces back to Mgr Cora's Astro days, I gotta bridge for you to buy. The entire sports world's connection to gambling can not be ignored. And MLB kept Pete Rose out of the Hall Of Fame due to his betting on his OWN TEAM to win? And this in the face of MLB circling the wagons around Ohtani regarding his Million $$ gambling issues? The sports world is now run through Vegas.

Alex Cora got canned because his team which was expected to contend for the AL East championship was in last place with a 10-17 record. Firing the manager when a team is underperforming is the rule, not the exception. It has been that way for as long as I've been around and even before that.

As far as gambling is concerned, all major sports have decided that rather than fight it, they might as well embrace it. However, they still try to keep a wall between the gamblers and the participants. Two Cleveland Guardians players have recently received lifetime bans for violating the rule regarding to gambling. Similar bans have been handed down in other sports. As for Ohtani, he was the victim of that crime, not a participant. Since you are a dedicated conspiracy afficianado, it does not surprise me that you don't believe that.

So the Red Sox canned Cora and his entire Offensive support staff Saturday AFTER they won 17-1? Seriously? If they were going to fire Cora for his teams' dismal record, why not fire him after being swept by the Yankees in Fenway Park last Thur night?
You really are missing the boat with sports and the gambling industry. There have even been NBA Ref's caught with their hand in the cookie jar. I enjoy watching sports at all levels. That said, I know what I enjoy watching vs what is going down behind the scenes. And this includes the NBA basically being owned by Nike/China. You see what happens to any NBA player or front office members that even make an outta step "peep" about China? They get shunned outta the NBA on-the-spot. No ifs, ands, or butts about it.
With respect to Ohtani. Are you familiar with his current 10 yr Dodger contract? Ohtani makes $70 million per year, every year, for 10 yrs. Out of that $70 Mill per year, $68 Mill is DEFERRED. Ohtani is only paid $2 Mill per year in Dodger $$. At the end of his 10 yr contract, the LA Dodgers will owe Ohtani $680 MILLION. Over a 1/2 $BILLION. MLB and the Dodgers will NOT Permit their PR Golden Goose to be tarnished in a gambling scandal that has been HQ'd in So Cal for well over a decade. This is an "open secret" in So Cal.

You'd have to ask the Red Sox front office. I suspect this move had been under consideration for some time and the decision was made prior to yesterday's game. The outcome of one game isn't going to change people's minds once a decision like that has been made.

I remember one. He was banned for life and served jail time.

That's politics. You are overstating the influence of Nike and China. The NBA owners know how much revenue is generated by those entities, but that doesn't mean they are calling the shots. I hardly watch basketball much because I don't like the modern game. Most of the offense has become shooting threes or driving to the hoop and getting fouled. It drives me nuts when I see a player pass up a high percentage shot to kick the ball out to the arc for teammate to shoot a three.

What is your evidence that Ohtani was the perp and not the victim of this crime.

Deferred compensation is nothing new. I remember as far back as Al Kaline deferring 2/3 of his salary and that was in an era when he was only making $60-70K. He worked for an auto company in his offseason. He knew he couldn't play ball indefinitely and deferred his salary so he would have income long past his playing days.

John Corbett:
Listening to the news reports, it seems to me that the hotel ballroom where an assassin tried to kill Trump had some of the same security concerns the Secrets Service had for the Trade Mart where JFK was headed when he was assassinated. A large venue with many entrances that would need to be secured. The Secret Service eventually decided they could secure the Trade Mart, but it wasn't ideal.

When Trump's ballroom is finished, that will greatly enhance presidential security for large events. I hope Trump survives until then.

When did Kaline, "defer 2/3 of his salary..."? I follow the older players dating back to "Murderer's Row". Never heard the Kaline, "2/3 deferred" story.
