'American hero' leaks Heidi Cruz text messages on Cancun trip to the NYT

Text messages reportedly sent by Heidi Cruz as she planned a Cancun getaway with her husband, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) were leaked to The New York Times.

"Text messages sent from Ms. Cruz to friends and Houston neighbors on Wednesday revealed a hastily planned trip. Their house was 'FREEZING,' as Ms. Cruz put it — and she proposed a getaway until Sunday. Ms. Cruz invited others to join them at the Ritz-Carlton in Cancún, where they had stayed "many times," noting the room price this week ($309 per night) and its good security. The text messages were provided to The New York Times and confirmed by a second person on the thread, who declined to be identified because of the private nature of the texts," the newspaper reported.

Cruz is a managing director at Goldman Sachs.

"For more than 12 hours after the airport departure photos first emerged, Mr. Cruz's office declined to comment on his whereabouts. The Houston police confirmed that the senator's office had sought their assistance for his airport trip on Wednesday, and eventually Mr. Cruz was spotted wheeling his suitcase in Mexico on Thursday as he returned to the state he represents in the Senate," the newspaper noted. "As the Cruzes were away, millions of Texans were still without electricity, many had no running water and the icy air that swept into the state was so severe that the Federal Emergency Management Agency had been activated to send supplies, including generators."

New York Magazine correspondent Olivia Nuzzi described the source of the text messages as an American hero.

He could simply suggest that Texas becomes part of an integrated power grid and not an independant one. Suggest the various power providers install protection against cold snaps. Like the one that occurred in 2011 with similar effect. Perhaps the people of Texas need more Democratic representatives that will do something to help them rather than go on vacation to warmer places. Ya think?

Maybe what we need is an outsider who is not beholden to the paymasters.  Our politicians are corrupt and incompetent.  That goes for repubs and dems.  Cuomo, Newsom, and Abbott should all go.  If only there were such a person who was not part of the establishment!

Richard shamelessly posts false smears against President Biden who immediately provide relief and emergency to Texans but said nothing about insurrectionist Ted Cruz fleeing to Cancun while his constituents freeze to death.

The feds provided no meaningful assistance during this crisis.  None.  It was completely bungled.  Under Trump, that would have been an endless media story.  Old Joe was focused on his plan to aid illegal immigrants instead of US citizens.  He probably thinks Texas is still part of Mexico.  He is clueless.  He said this week that there was no vaccine available prior to Jan. 20 even though he himself received a shot in December.  He said that when he wakes up in the morning he asks his wife where they are.  Harris is counting the hours until they invoke the 25th Amendment.

The evidence, as per usual, proves this to be a lie. And a pathetic one as well. Abbott and Cruz were warned days in advance about what was coming and they did nothing. As for the federal level, you can not declare an emergency when it has not yet happened. The "crisis" is merely four days old and FEMA has already sent help. Just how quick do you expect them to react?

Old Joe was focused on his plan to aid illegal immigrants instead of US citizens.  He probably thinks Texas is still part of Mexico.  He is clueless.

Yet his approval rating is much higher than Trump's ever was. In less than 4 weeks he brought the country back from absolute chaos to the stability we had to do without for four years.

Harris is counting the hours until they invoke the 25th Amendment.

Ain't gonna happen... just like all the other crap the extreme right predicted was going to happen. Get over it, your guy lost and luckily failed to overthrow democracy, and we finally have somebody in the White House again who knows what he is doing.

 :D :D :D

"Bungled" he says. It can't be "bungled" when Texas received more federal assistance than what they asked for in record time. Richard loves to embarrass himself on the daily.

Richard is a Royell clone. Makes up total  BS: in order to smear President Biden while praising Criminal Donald. President Biden is the most popular President at this time in modern history. Deal with it.

Criminal Donald purposely withheld major disaster relief from California and Oregon because he hated blue states that voted against him. And yes, it was a major media story about how cruel and heartless he was but you didn't hear that on the right wing media outlets.

President Biden immediately signed disaster relief and gave more to Texas even after the corrupt, hateful, vicious Texas GOP went along with the "Big Lie" bogus election fraud lawsuit and demanded to secede from the Union all because Joe Biden won the election in a blowout. President Joe Biden held true to his word that he is a President for ALL Americans. Even after Texas tried to sabotage him and were anti American wanting to leave the United States, he still did more to help Texas than any President could. That's how a real President operates. Now the morons in Texas have shut up about secession because they would have been in the dark forever with no federal aid. Once again, right wingers show America and the world how hateful, stupid, and ignorant they are.

It's Criminal Donald who was in danger of having the 25th Amendment invoked against him because of his on going dementia since 2017.

Unfortunately Putin is taken. You recently went with the poor man’s version. Didn’t go so well. How about "the people" becoming more politically intelligent. One guy they should look at closely is Rupert Murdoch.

You really think one guy could fix things single handed? Even Captain America has buddies.
