The picture below is from Jesse Curry's book "The JFK Assassination File" (1969), page 88.

is #3 really a large fragment from Connally's wrist wound or was Curry just mistaken about the annotation in his book ?

It certainly looks similar in shape, but not exactly the same. Maybe the angle is just different. It looks like there are more than one fragment there too as in CE842. Since he referenced FBI ex.#39 for other fragments, he could of referenced FBI ex. C9 for this one. Hard to tell if the size is the same but Curry's fragment looks to big to me as seen in your photo.

thanks Mike,

to me it looks nothing like a fragment more like an object similar to a ring, what do you think  ? Could that be a cuff link or ring ?

I think that is Tippits uniform button.

I was thinking that the large fragment was the bullet that struck the uniform button.

I think it could be something besides a fragment for sure. I think Ron may be on to something.

A Dallas police officer was present when Tippit was pronounced dead at the hospital and he asked the doctor to remove a bullet for evidence and as to tie the bullet to the gun if possible. The doctor removed a bullet and his button for the officer and this is likely how this evidence ended up on Curry's evidence against Oswalds list and hence in his book. I think item 3 is a button the more I see it.

Great police work Mike. Much better than what Curry managed for his book.

Maybe its all in his book. I haven't read it but downloaded it yesterday thanks to Robin. Perhaps Curry had little or nothing to do with compileing the exhibits for his book and stuff got mislabeled..or..perhaps he needed help himself to get it right, and didnt.

Looks more like the mangled button from Tippit's jacket which was hit by a  bullet.
