Why not release his tax returns? If he was a lone nut assassian what could his tax records show?

Not I. Others have and use it to explain why they want to see the tax returns. It was assistant DA William Alexander who started that rumor that Oswald was an FBI agent to get back at Hoover who had threatened him to get him to take
out the conspiracy language in the murder charge on Oswald.

There is no doubt that Oswald was suspected to be affiliated with Al CIAda and under cover of the ONI, as the following references will support. Some may have been "scrubbed", but the Rense link shows the McCone (CIA) to Rowley (Secret Service) letter.

I'm sure that if the letter is genuine, there will be all sorts of attempts to "disinformation" it:

What does your special acronym CIAda mean? I have never seen that used before? Did you invent it? Maybe you mean that the CIA used al Qaeda to help drive the Russians from Afghanistan. That is old news. BTW the al is not capitalized in Arabic. Qaeda means base, as in the database of freedom fighters that Osama bin Laden had compiled.
As a Newbie you seem to believe whatever conspiracy theory you hear about. The McCone-Rowley memo was exposed as a hoax. I should know. I am one of the people who helped debunk it. The hoaxer had used one of the SS documents I got declassified and uploaded to the Web to create a phony document to the SS.

But you were using the Arabic word "al" incorrectly. Because you are a Newbie.

The initial al- is the Arabic definite article "the," hence the base.

Bin Laden explained the origin of the term in a videotaped interview with Al Jazeera journalist Tayseer Alouni in October 2001:

The name 'al-Qaeda' was established a long time ago by mere chance. The late Abu Ebeida El-Banashiri established the training camps for our mujahedeen against Russia's terrorism. We used to call the training camp al-Qaeda. The name stayed.[57]

It has been argued that two documents seized from the Sarajevo office of the Benevolence International Foundation prove that the name was not simply adopted by the mujahid movement and that a group called al-Qaeda was established in August 1988. Both of these documents contain minutes of meetings held to establish a new military group, and contain the term "al-Qaeda".[58]

Former British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook wrote that the word al-Qaeda should be translated as "the database", and originally referred to the computer file of the thousands of mujahideen militants who were recruited and trained with CIA help to defeat the Russians.[59] In April 2002, the group assumed the name Qa'idat al-Jihad, which means "the base of Jihad". According to Diaa Rashwan, this was "apparently as a result of the merger of the overseas branch of Egypt's al-Jihad (Egyptian Islamist Jihad, or EIJ) group, led by Ayman El-Zawahiri, with the groups Bin Laden brought under his control after his return to Afghanistan in the mid-1990s."[60]

Joe - the main reason his tax records are not available is that they show he was working at a number of different locations WHILE HE WAS OUT OF THE COUNTRY...

In 1956, the taxpayer ID number given for PFI was not established until January 1964...

Let me say that again... the EIN on Oswald's W-2 was NOT YET CREATED for another 6 years -
and an Oswald is remembered there in '57-'58 while he was in Japan.

Finally, as we line up the three W-2's the liklihood of them all lining up exactly on the name/address, and with the same exact typewriter... suggests that these are forgeries designed to help hide where Oswald was and when.
Add to this his actually getting paid from the FBI and one begins to see that he has more money to spend than money he earned.
