Did Jackie retrieve anything off the trunk?  (Read 1046 times)

I've seen it reported that she was trying or did grab a piece of the skull from the trunk of the car.  But did she actually do that or was she just in shock?  If she had a piece of the skull, who did she give it to?

It is said that she was holding on to a piece of his skull and ask someone if it could help  in anyway.

Yes, I've seen that or a variation repeated several times.  I just wonder if it is true?   Jackie herself testified that she had no recollection of crawling out of the car.  It makes me wonder if this story hasn't been trumped up over the years to make it appear that Jackie simply wasn't fleeing from the car in a panic.  Looking at the Z film it's not exactly clear what she is doing.  There is one point where it does look almost like she is reaching for something.  Did anyone report receiving a piece of the skull from Jackie?

If you look at a blown up version of the z-film, you can see that she is NOT looking anywhere but at her husband, as his head is blown apart, and then makes the move to exit the limo. Her eyes as best you can tell are not searching for anything on the trunk. There would have been plenty of material inside the limo to find. Its a story to not make her look like she was trying to get out of the limo. Who could blame her? Everyones first reaction would have been to get the heck outta there.

I don't buy it, that she picked up something off the trunk. I think she was in a state of "fight or flight" panic when she went out on to the trunk.
But later at Parkland, after the efforts to save JFK ended, she stepped forward and in her cupped hands she held a chunk of his brain. She handed it to one of the doctors.

After all... We are not Communists.

IMO, there is no reason for her NOT to be retrieving something from the trunk area. Perhaps, it is a combination of both. She is so shocked, she 'impulsively' reaches for a portion of matter of the trunk, while also leaping in surprise.

When watching the Zfilm, she swipes her hand to the far back of the limo, and pulls back BEFORE Hill reaches out to her.

People have often used this as proof to a frontal shot. It doesn't indicate either way, as matter went in many directions following z313.

IMO, it is a combination of shock, and retrieval. That is only based off what I see in the film.

However, it could simply be a psychological connection based off the fact that it has been repeated that she was retrieving something.

Still, a horrific sight.

Jackie was attempting to get Clint Hill onto the limo.

Paul: Yes, dear I am.
Ian: Does Jackie change her responses in other 'versions'?
I do not believe she was retrieving anything.
She was leaving the limo by means of the trunk area.

She appears to be trying to collect something off the trunk. Notice that once she gets whatever it was,  she then gets back into the back seat before Hill reaches her. She actually said that she didn't even notice Hill was there, even though he would have been obvious to her if she was trying to exit the car.

Quote from Clint Hill
""As I approached the vehicle there was a third shot. It hit the President in the head, upper right rear of the right ear, caused a gaping hole in his head, which caused brain matter, blood, and bone fragments to spew forth out over the car, over myself. At that point Mrs. Kennedy came up out of the back seat onto the trunk of the car. She was trying to retrieve something that had gone off to the right rear. She did not know I was there. At that point I grabbed Mrs. Kennedy, put her in the back seat. The President fell over into her lap, to his left."

Edited to add comment
