They escaped down the elevator shaft  (Read 695 times)

There has always been a big problem with the official story that Oswald or any other shooter took the stairwell.  The fact that other employees or police might be using the stairs at the same time was always a big risk.  The freight elevator was very noisy according to TSBD employee Mary Hollies and the wooden slats would allow any person on the landing to see someone riding down.

It has been suggested by Gerry Hemming and others that a professional hit squad used the service elevator shaft to make their escape either with grappling hooks or using the existing elevator cable.  There is no doubt that a CIA squad would probably be trained in this area.  They could pause at each floor to check for witnesses and make their way out of the building quickly.

I do see a problem with descending directly to the first floor.  The risk would be too great.  However, on the second floor, the east elevator was hidden from view and there was a conference room with a lock and a supply closet for cover.  An escaping sniper could then carefully make his way out via the front elevator or the back dock.  If LHO was not the lone gunman and was involved in a conspiracy  to shepherd out the bad guys, this may be the reason he was spotted on the second floor 90 seconds after the shots.

Ross, In my view,  the lone assassin theory was discredited long ago.  So, my idea of what happened is very different from someone who still clings to the lone nut theory.  Wes

Im not too sure about this proposal. Whilst Ive never been a elevator repair man myself - what i do now is this - you have steel cables and counter balance weights swinging about the lift shaft and they are invariably covered in oil, grease and dust and fluff etc. In my view theres no way you could climb up or down in this way without climbing out of the shaft  looking like a car mechanic whos loosened the sump plug onto his head.

We know LHO was seen in the rest room quickly after the shooting - theres no mention of him being oil or grease stained on his hands, face or clothing. And he wouldnt have had time to scrub himself up

Sorry im going to park this suggestion

Mike, I did not mean to imply that Oswald went down the elevator shaft.  This would only apply to a professional sniper who was trained in repelling.  Gerry Patrick Hemming and Robert Easterling were some of the first people to claim that the  snipers escaped this way. Although they are not the most credible witnesses.  Wes

No one spotted LHO on the stairs or the elevator.  Jesse Curry could not state for certain that he was even on the sixth floor at the moment of the shootings with a rifle.   The only evidence we have is that Lee was located on the 2nd floor.  The police were too busy modifying the crime scene to check out the obvious.  The elevator shaft.   Wes

Obviously, Jesse Curry was not on the 6th floor at the time of the shooting of JFK.

Pity he wasn't. He could have arrested Oswald and been a great hero.

Rule of the Universe # 16286 -- Police must always be at the scene of the crime when it is committed or they have no right to arrest the suspect based on other physical and circumstantial evidence!!!

Wes,

That's an impressive assertion.

Care to list a few pieces of evidence that renders Oswald innocent. Alternately, an admission (by you) that Oswald is guilty in part and somebody else assisted him in murdering President Kennedy.

Ever notice the LN'ers get a kind of desperate edge to their arguments when we press them too hard? Must be working on this year's Xmas bonus already.
