I was wondering if anyone had some information regarding acoustical analysis done with the dictabelt around 2003. I ran across this BBC article from around 2004 which reads that the original dictabelt from Nov 22 was going to be digitally copied and tests were to be performed to perhaps answer the question of a 4th shot once and for all. The digital reproduction was done by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory with assistance from Leslie Waffen, an archivist at the US National Archives. My question is...Did this digital copy get made and is anyone aware of the test results if any? Ive had no luck at all finding info on this. Gary Mack is quoted in the article and Ive emailed him but haven't had a response. Thanx As a guest, you are not allowed to view links.

Register or LoginThey conducted a feasibility study of using a Laser to read the contents of the mechanically unstable Dictabelt and produce a digital recorder. Although the study showed the method was viable, the USG elected not to fund further work. During the seventies, BB&N and W&A presented all the necessary information to conclude that the Bowles tape of the Dictabelt contained pulse patterns produced by a shot from the Grassy Knoll and that a studio amateurishly appended these patterns to the acoustic record well after the assassination. Hey Herb, I wonder why the USG came to that decision? That explains why there are no test results. Thanks Herb.

The Bowles tape of the Dictabelt was and still is adequate to resolve all of the lingering questions. For example the alleged engine that was the source of the loud interference had a repetition rate as high as 54,000 RPM. This result immediately disqualifies a motorcycle engine as the source of the loud noise. Herbert

That is a ludicrous theory. You have the conspirators trying to convict themselves and reveal the assassination plot by adding the shots onto the DPD tape? Where did they get these real shots from? Remember that BBN said the unique patterns could ONLY have been created by the architecture of Dealey Plaza. Not just recorded in a studio. So you have the conspirators building an identical Dealey Plaza, even adding the details of the press bus rounding the corner? Ludicrous.

No, it isn't. Never examine a poor quality copy. Always examine the original. That requires the laser method.

The architecture of Dealey Plaza created the pulse patterns that were appended to the acoustic record by the studio. Their purposes were to create evidence of conspiracy that would then be discredited and leave a motorcycle as the carrier of the open microphone. This approach had two advantages, Anthony. It snagged fools like yourself and provided an excuse for the loud interference. Herbert

Explain EXACTLY when and how the conspirators recreated the assassination in Dealey Plaza using exactly the same rifles and ammo and having the exact same sequence of shots fired in exactly the same sequence and hitting or missing exactly the same things. And did no one notice the gunfire? When you dream up ridiculous fairy tales like this I think you are in no position to call someone else a fool.

When you weren’t listening a moving microphone recorded a shot from the Grassy Knoll. This was the source of the patterns that they incorrectly appended to the acoustic record. Source: W&A - 8HSCA, 27 As a guest, you are not allowed to view links.
Register or Login“Because any value between 1.03 and 1.07 was theoretically valid, it was permissible to choose the value between those limits that created the best match between the impulse and echo sequences. By fitting the DPD tape recorded impulse sequence to our predicted echo sequences, we found that a time-correction factor of 1.043 gave the best match, and we therefore used that factor.” The pulse pattern associated with the Grassy Knoll shot produced the best match to a test shot pattern when they multiplied time on the Bowles tape by a correction factor of 1.043. However, the slowed playing of the Dictabelt during recording of the Bowles tape would have expanded time. So a time compression of 1/1.043 or 0.959 should have produced the best match for a true Grassy Knoll pattern on the Bowles tape. This contradictory situation arose because the studio that impressed the Grassy Knoll shot pattern on the Bowles tape made a mistake. This studio should have expanded time on their source recording so that the proper compression 0.959 would have produced the best match to the test shot pattern. Instead the studio compressed time on their source and caused the best match with the test shot to have occurred with a time expansion of 1.043.
