Carl Mather  (Read 2874 times)

Came across some interesting stuff regarding Carl Mather. I did a brief search and found some reference to him. The report reads as follows;

"In one of the more stranger incidents recorded in the history of the assassination, mechanic T. F. White noticed a man sitting in 1958 two-tone Plymouth sedan. To White, he was acting suspiciously as the man watched a flurry of police cars speeding to the murder scene of Dallas police officer J.D. Tippit. White exchanged glances with the man, who drove off. White wrote down the license tag number: PP4537. Later, as Lee Oswald’s image was broadcast on TV, White recognized him at the man in the Plymouth. Later, authorities would trace down the tag to a car belonging to Collins Radio employee Carl Mather of Garland, Texas. When contacted, Mather’s wife responded that her husband was at work the day of the assassination. The important point to consider here is that T. F. White says he saw a man resembling Oswald occupying and driving off in Mather’s car. It should be added that Mather was a close friend of J.D. Tippit and later that afternoon drove to the Tippit residence to offer condolences.

Even more peculiar, the FBI interviewed mechanic T. F. White later for additional details about his sighting but but do not interview Carl Mather. Even stranger, years later, The House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) offered Mather immunity then never do question him under oath. It has since been uncovered through the JFK Records Act that investigators did talk to Carl Mather and discovered that he was responsible for installing the radio gear in Air Force Two, the Vice President’s aircraft. Nevertheless, this is basically a great lead that is never followed through on or adequately sussed out. Why? I think it is safe to assume that Mather possessed a high level security clearance for his work. I am not saying that Mather was a government informant but he does get the kind of coddling that an informant usually receives in an investigation.

Collins Radio’s involvement in Military-Industrial Complex and National Security State operations, runs deep. Everything from hiring Paper Clip Nazis to leasing a ship, the Rex, that was used to place assassins on the shores of Cuba to assassinate Fidel Castro. Lee Oswald, upon returning to America was introduced to a Collins Radio executive by Russian emigrant George de Mohrenschildt for possible employment. Though trivial, Oswald’s widow, Marina married a former Collins Radio employee, Kenneth Porter.

Mystery: What is the true Collins Radio link to the assassination, if any? Did T. F. White really see Lee Oswald in Carl Mather’s car? Did Mather know Oswald and loan him his car? The timeline is off–did White encounter an Oswald impostor? Why is Carl Mather treated so lightly to the point of being virtually ignored by investigators?"

Thoughts? I know Mather has been covered, would like it revisited. There are far too many twists, turns, lies, suppressed evidence, destroyed evidence to be a simple one man did it. The more I look the more I believe he was involved but there were more than one shooter. Too much evidence was left out and it all seemed to be the type that lead away from a lone shooter.

I was leaning to LHO but am pretty much in the CT corner now. Happy to be proven otherwise.

One of the first things we found out was that the Warren Commission never pursued a conspiracy investigation.

Keen to hear more thoughts on this from both sides.

Strange he is offered immunity? Perhaps there is a simple explanation for this but it seems too strange to be discounted.

David Belin called the Tippit killing the " Rosetta Stone" of the Kennedy assassination.  He is correct, but not in the way he intended.

This is the exact reason why all this conspiracy stuff continues to rage on.

Why seal what he said for 50 years if it didn't damage or destroy reputations of high up people and/or the US government? Does 50 years give key players a chance to live their life without proven to have committed shocking crimes?

Interesting information there Ian.

DH Byrd who owned the TSBD was close friends with the Collins Radio founder. A VP at Collins was close friends with George De Mohrenschildt. A Collins employee quit within a year of the assassination and was romantically linked with Marina.

Can't be random links. Anyone ever interview Mather? He still alive?

Not many who believe LHO acted alone have commented on this post?

The Wise Allegation:

T.F. White was interviewed by Special Agent Brown on December 13, 1963. In the interview, White said he saw a red car in the parking lot of the El Chico Restaurant at approximately 2 p.m. on November 22, 1963.(62) At the time of the interview, White said he believed the car to be a red 1961 Falcon with 1963 Texas license PP 4537.(63) White said he saw the man in the car from the side, and that when he saw pictures of Lee Harvey Oswald that night on television, he was identical with the man he had seen in the car that afternoon.(64) White said that after he saw the man sit in the car for a short time, the man left in the car at a high rate of speed, going west of Davis Street.(65)

Hmmm!

This is from Ira David Wood III's chronological research.

Quote

LHO's prior connection to Collins Radio:LHO in the company of George DeMohrenschildt, had once visited the home of retired Admiral Henry Bruton, who was an executive of Collins Radio. Bruton had been a lawyer in Virginia before becoming a Navy intelligence officer. Bruton's specialty was electronic surveillance and this is what he was bringing to Collins Radio. In April of 1963, the Wall Street Journal announced that Collins would construct a modern radio communications system linking Laos, Thailand and South Vietnam. On 1 November 1963, the New York Times reported that Fidel Castro had captured a large boat called the Rex which was being leased to Collins Radio at the time. The next day, one of the Cuban exiles aboard the Rex confessed that the boat had been used to ferry arms into Cuba and that "the CIA all arms shipments." The Rex was the FLAGSHIP of the JM/WAVE fleet, the CIA's super station in Miami.

Castro announced that the arms shipments were meant for an assassination attempt on top Cuban leaders.

Scenario: five blocks from where LHO was arrested we have a LHO double in a car traced to Tippit's friend and the friend works for a CIA associated company that plays a role in the plots against Cuba and Castro.

Sounds like maybe there are some "dots" which just might be connected.

Or, Rob, is it all just a mistake?
