Lee Bowers " Two men at the mouth of the underpass "  (Read 12860 times)

Quote:

BOWERS: "Directly in line, towards the mouth of the underpass, there were two men. One man, middle-aged, or slightly older, fairly heavy-set, in a white shirt, fairly dark trousers. Another younger man, about mid-twenties, in either a plaid shirt or plaid coat or jacket." [Emphasis added]

BOWERS  seemingly places the two men in an area that was "directly in line" with his view of the "mouth of the underpass," which, of course, is the area on the west end of the stockade fence, opposite the east end where MACK and WHITE place Badge Man and Hard Hat Man. Although he doesn't expressly say so, BOWERS seems to be saying that the men are behind the stockade fence, since BOWERS is looking south from the railroad tower and cannot see the grassy incline that leads down to the mouth of the underpass.

I am wondering if this may be the same two men seen in the "Bell frames" standing on the north end of the overpass near the mouth of the underpass. ?

Can these guys be seen from the Bowers signal tower.

Robin, (if you don't have me on ignore)

I'm sure that the 2 men that Bowers was describing were simply 2 of the men standing on the overpass along with Sam Holland, etc...

Bill.

Looking from the Bowers Tower, how much of the overpass and the spectators would actually be visible from Bowers vantage point.  ?

Robin,

That I cannot answer.  But I would assume that the 2 guys were probably walking around, and at some point or another made it to a spot far enough towards the point where the fence meets the overpass (northern edge of the overpass, western end of the fence) to where Bowers could see them.  That's just an assumption of course.

Another thing which always bothered me was when Bowers said that he saw a motorcysle cop ride his motorcycle up the grassy incline.

exactly how is it possible, that bowers could have seen that from the opposite side of the fence.?

Also, given the fact that there is zero photographic evidence to coroborate his story.

The other day Gary Mack emailed me a scenario which seems to make sense.

Robin,

Having looked out of the railroad tower windows, I wonder if Bowers saw only the helmet, head and shoulders of officer Bobby Hargis, who ran up to the grass to the wall, and simply assumed he was still on his motorcycle?

(from the Texas Monthly website)  SAYS GARY MACK: "Bowers didn't say there was anything suspicious about the two guys behind the fence. He never hinted, even to his family, that a shot came from there." <end quote>

Keep in mind, these 2 men that Bowers was describing were at the OTHER end of the fence the entire time from so called "Badge Man".  (Robin, I know you know this, I posted this for others who might not)

Robin,

I always thought that is exactly what happened, Bowers assumed the officer rode his motorcycle up the knoll, no way could Bowers have seen whether the police officer actually did or not, Bowers simply made an assumption.

Keep in mind that i NEVER said they were shooters.

I belive that Bowers interview has been taken out of context  and used to place two shooters near the badgeman position.

Robin,

It looks like Bowers could have seen at least part of the way around the corner toward where Sam Holland and others were standing on the overpass.

I beleive i have a Large Cabluck Scan showing the men seen on the overpass in Bell, the heavy set man seen in the white shirt  is  black.

Robin, is a video of this statement from Bowers available?
Never heard about that.

I know only about the interview with Lane.

Sure, if he made that statement really, it would decrease his credibility.

Thank you

Martin
