good evening

for the record - is there an official note or comment from Dr Shires saying something like the wound was clear of bullets and all i needed to do was sew the wound up. No bullet extraction was required?

I have never seen myself an official statement saying the leg wound was empty

If i had such a proven statement, i would then be prepared to accept that this "leg" bullett was indeed the stretcher bullet Ce 399

Can you find for me such an official statement about an "empty" leg?

Mike

Mr. SPECTER - And what did you observe as to the wound on the thigh?
Dr. SHIRES - The wound on the thigh was a peculiar one. There was a 1 cm. punctate missile wound over the junction of the middle and lower third of the leg and the medial aspect of the, thigh. The peculiarity came in that the X-rays of the left leg showed only a very small 1 mm. bullet fragment imbedded in the femur of' the left leg. Upon exploration of this wound, the other peculiarity was that there was very little soft tissue damage, less than one would expect from an entrance wound of a centimeter in diameter, which was seen on the skin. So, it appeared, therefore, that the skin wound was either a tangential wound or that a larger .fragment had penetrated or stopped in the skin and had subsequently fallen out of the entrance wound.
Mr. SPECTER - What size fragment was there in the Governor's leg at that time?
Dr. SHIRES - We recovered none. The small one that was seen was on X-ray and it was still in the femur and being that small, with no tissue damage after the debridement, it was thought inadvisable to remove this small fragment.
Mr. SPECTER - Is that fragment in the bone itself at the present time?
Dr. SHIRES - Yes.
Mr. SPECTER - What would your best estimate be as to the size of that fragment?
Dr. SHIRES - One millimeter in diameter---one to two.
Mr. SPECTER - Would you have any estimate as to how much that might weigh in grains?
Dr. SHIRES - In grains---a fraction of a grain, maybe, a tenth of a grain---very small.
Mr. SPECTER - A tenth of one grain?
Dr. SHIRES - Yes.

Thank you Bill - thats helped me to overcome an issue Ive pondered over for many years.

Also, these are good questions Arlen Specter was asking

Certainly not indicative of someone NOT WANTING to get the facts and evidence in the open

Best regards

Mike

Hi Mike,

You're very welcome.  Also, I hate it when I see or hear others say that the Warren Commission staff and investigators didn't really want to find out the truth.  Those that say this kind of thing only show the rest of us that they are unfamiliar with the testimonial record.

The Warren Commission staff and investigators didn't really want to find out the truth.  Those that say this kind of thing only show the rest of us that they are very familiar with the testimonial record.

This is possibly the biggest point of criticism the WC got from the Hart-Schweiker Committee.

Warren who decided on his own that the autopsy foto's were to be excluded from the record.
Warren who decided that there was no reason to bring Ruby to Washington.
Ford who tampered with evidence.
Members of the WC who disagreed so much with the conclusions that they didn't want to put their autograph on the report but were persuaded (forced ) by Warren..... etc etc etc

They were VERY aware of the fact that they were not investigating the truth but were on a mission to put this to rest asap.

On the risk of being banned i still think itīs fair to publicly state here that you are nothing but a huge

A review of "all",will indicate that an attempt to resolve the "mystery" was made by having additional X-rays made, just in event the missile had "escaped" the boundaries of the first set of X-rays of the leg.

Then, word came around that a bullet had been found.

IF, only, one could take a good look at that "extra" set of X-rays of the left lower leg of JBC!
