Hi Everybody,
I am a newbie and wanted to introduce myself and get some ideas from people who know more than I do right now. I realize everyone needs to form their own opinion but I also know opinions are shaped by what you read and I want to enter this fascinating but horribly sad incident with an open mind
That is why I am reading one book anti conspiracy and ordered one that is pro conspiracy. and would like some thoughts on good books to read on the JFK Assassination. I did some research and read several reviews on books. Although I do not know very much at this point, I am sure there are some really weird and bizarre theories out there. Right now, I want to stay away from them so I can get closer to the truths.
Here are my question: 1)What are a couple of good books that will help me and don't distort facts? Any very good links online that would be helpful?
2)I just ordered "Crossfire" because several sources said it was a good, basic book for a newbie to read before reading anything more heavy duty. Any thoughts on the book?
3)Can you order your own video disc of the actually footage from various photos and the video taken by Zapruder and anything else out there that are is REAL?
4) I am reading currently "Reclaiming History" I read by some historians that although Vincent Bugliosi is a prosecutor and has a biased that there was no conspiracy (so i am reading with that understanding) that the book was still a good read and very detailed and factual on all that happened. Any thoughts on the book ?
5) With all the stuff out there especially the videos on You Tube generally speaking regardless of your pro or con conspiracy what are some warning signs to look for if I am trying to stay away from people distorting the incident? Thank you

Well, somebody did it.

Reclaiming history is the best book out on the assassination for those that are looking for facts. If you're getting into this to find a conspiracy you can get back out of it now and save yourself some time that you may want to spend on other things in life, it's been fortyseven years and there is not one shred of evidence that there was one not one, if in your research you find any please come here and post it as it will surely be news.
To be honest with you it is a waste of time and money to even buy a book that supports conspiracies, they are all based on nothing that has anything to do with the case, Sorry if this sounds one sided but that's how the assassination is , Oswald did it and that's that, it is a one-sided argument.
-------------------------
-------------------------
LN; So how did it happen then ?
CT; I don't know, I only know that it didn't happen the way the evidence says.
LN; We should not use evidence in this case ?
CT; Correct.

Hi Anthony, the link below is an invaluable reserch tool, its a compleate list of all witness testimony. Now you'll be able to double check some of the "facts" in those books and put what was actully said into context. Good luck. As a guest, you are not allowed to view links.

welcome anthony if you are like me, then you are trying to see it from both sides the only warning is you will be able to tell who is a LN ( lone nut theory supporter -basicaly saying oswald was a nut and acted alone with no outside influence ) or a CT ( Conspiracy theorist ) who doubts the findings of the warren commission and that oswald was not the only gunman or not the gunman at all. but a real ture patsy that was set up. he has ties to the CIA, FBI, MOB or MOB bosses or other possibilties.. you will see a lot of aspect that will have you wondering.. some of the LN and CT on this forum argue with eachother quite frequently and some right belittle eachother i even got attack or accused of being another forum member might suggestion is don't let any LN or CT way your own common sense to any particular subject if you lean towards a conpiracy then you will be ridicule or heavily question and told you are wrong by LN's if you lean towards a LN theory the same will come from the CT's good luck.. my opinion on the overall case is 50% is correct by the LN 50% is correct by the CT every book you buy will be bias toward either a CT or a LN.

Welcome Aboard Anthony! There are a lot of good books out there on both sides. I think you are bound to find some pretty far fetched, and some that are actually rather intriguing. One thing I would caution you on is to be mindful of WHEN they were written. Some of the older books did the best they could with what they had, which in many cases was not much at all. The case has had interesting turns, and some of the older books may not reflect that. You seem open minded, so read what ever you wish. Just do not take any ones word for anything, dig into the WC Hearings, and report. Judge each piece of evidence in its own case. If you have issues with a piece of evidence, or are looking for more info, post about it and the guys and gals here will help ya. I myself made the error of reading only CT material at first, and I firmly believed there was a conspiracy. Time changed that, as I have yet to find a CT claim that holds water. Most wash away to the impossible, improbable, or unlikely. I wish you luck in your research, Mike p.s. I have some old books here you can have if you need, and also, I own As a guest, you are not allowed to view links.

Welcome to the forum, Anthony. Right up front, I'm a CT. I educated myself on the subject by reading every book I could get my hands on. I stopped collecting several years ago, but have about 60, lots of video, magazines, etc. Some, I will admit, are nonsense, even the pro=conspiracy stuff. I would recommend educating yourself, keep an open mind and apply common sense. At first you might have a tendency to believe everything you read, but as you become better-informed, you'll become more discerning. One thing that helped me- I took no one's word for anything. If I had a question about something I read in "Crossfire", I called Jim Marrs. With "Best evidence" I e-mailed and spoke by phone with David Lifton on numerous occasions. Same with Gaeton Fonzi's "The Last Investigation". What I found, surprisingly, is that most authors are flattered by the attention and happy to share. With the Internet, most are easy to track down. Good luck and I hope you get as much satisfaction from the subject as I have!

You will find everything you ever wanted to know about the conspiracies in books or on the internet , everything except but what the conspiracy actually is and the proof of it.
Also, you should be forewarned of the many close-minded individuals who lurk about on here and elsewhere.
