The 6-mm dimension reported by Humes belonged to the scalp wound.

Although a waste of time!
Actually, attempting to explain anything to you is in many ways like attempting to explain something to Tony Marsh and a few others.
You apparantly read ONE little item and are thereafter of the opinion that you have conducted soe tremendous amount of researh into the subject matter.
Although getting quite old, as well as being on the downhill grade of medical fitness, I will nevertheless waste time in a last attempt to steer you into the correct path regarding the forensic; ballistic; pathological and physical facts as they relate to the Kennedy assassination.
However! First, we shoudl take a short course in the English language.

1. From the handwritten autopsy notes of Dr. Humes:
CE397"Situated in the posterior scalp approimately 2.5cm laterally to the right and slightly above the eternal occipital protuberance is a lacerated wound measuring 15 X 6 mm.
In the underlying bone is a corresponding wound through the bone of the skull."
=======================================================================================================================================2. From the final autopsy report of President Kennedy:
CE387"Situated in the posteior scalp approximately 2.5 cm. laterally to the right and slightly above the external occipital protuberance is a lacerated wound measuring 15 X 6mm.
In the underlying bone is a corresponding wound through the skull"======================================================================================================================================3. From the Warren Commission testimony of Dr. Humes:
Page 252"In other words, this wound in the right posterior region was in a portion of the scalp which had remained intact.
So, we could see that it was the measurement which I gave before, I believe 15 by 6 millimeters.
When one reflected the scalp away from the skull in this region there was a corrresponding defect through both tables of the skull in this area."======================================================================================================================================4. From the Warren Report:
Page# 86"The detailed autopsy of President Kennedy performed on the night of Novermber 22 at the Bethesda Naval Hospital led the three examining pathologists to conclude that the smaller hole in the rear of the President's skull was the point of entry and that the large opening on the right side of his head was the wound of exit. 148 The smaller hole on the back of the President's head measured on-fourth of an inch by five-eights of an inch (6mm by 15 millimeters)149. The dimensions of that wound were consistent with having been caused by a 6.5mm bullet fired from behind and above which struck at a tangent or an angle causing a 15-millimeter cut. The cut reflected a larger dimension of entry than the bullets diameter of 6.5mm, since the missile, in effect, sliced along th skull for a fractional distance until it entered. 150 The dimension of 6 millmeters, somewhat smaller than the diamerer of a 6.5mm bullet, was caused by the elastic recoill of the skull which shrinks the size of an opening after a missile passes through it. 151"=====================================================================================================================================5. From the 1966 review of the autopsy photographs and X-rays conducted by the Autopsy Surgeons:
Page 00075"There is an elliptical penetrating wound of the scalp situated near the midline and high above the hairline. The position of this wound corresponds to the hole in the skull seen in the lateral X-ray film #2. (See description of X-ray films.) The long axis of this wound corresponds to the long axis of the skull. The wound was judged to be approximatly six millimeters wide and fifteen millimeters loing."==================================================================================================================================== Page 000155"The scalp wound shown in the photographs appears to be a laceration and tunnel, with the actual penetration of the skin obscurred by the top of the tunnel. From the photographs this is not recognizable as a penetrating wound bacause of the slanting direction of entry. However, as we pointed out in the autopsy report, there was in the underlying bone a corresponding wound through the skull which exhibited beveling"======================================================================================================================================6. From the HSA Investigation and testimonies:
Page 000192Dr. Humes: "That's an elliptical wound of the scalp which we described in our protocol. It's quite confident. And it was just to the right and below by a centimeter and maybe a centimeter to the right and maybe 2 centimers below the midpoint of the external occipital protuberance. And when the scalp was reflected from there, there was virtually an identical wound in the occipital bone."====================================================================================================================================== Page 000192Dr. Humes:
"To get to this entrance, right?"Dr. Boswell:
"but not much, beause this bone was all gone and actually the smaller fragment fit this piece down here--there was a hole here, only half of which was present in the bone that was intact, and this small piece then fit right on there and the beveling on those was on the interior surface."====================================================================================================================================== Page 000197Dr. Humes:
"No, that was a wound, and the wound on the skull precisely coincided with it."====================================================================================================================================== Page 000309*"Dr. Boswell related generally the fact of the 1966 review of the autopsy material in the Arhives by the autopsy principals.""Regarding the head wound, Dr. Boswell said the wound was fairly low in the back of the head and that the bone was completely gone above the entry wound. He said that during the autopsy, a piece of skull fragment was brought in which included a portion which corresponded to the missing half of the entry wound in the head."*Statements presented out of sequence for clarity.
======================================================================================================================================Regarding the above statements by Dr. Boswell, it is assumed that he explained this to you during one of your many discussions with him.
He most certainly explained it to me when I sent him a copy of CE397 and asked exactly what the small "half-moon" fragment drawing at the bottom represented.

And when inserted at the rear of the skull, completed the EOP entry penetration, which was fully measured and which also corresponded eactly with the 6mm X 15mm scalp entry penetration.
And, just in case Dr. Boswell also forgot or neglected to inform you, I also asked exactly what the straight line represented.
His response was that it was meant to represent the approximate angle of entry of the projectile/bullet which was responsible for creation of the EOP entry wound.---Up, and slightly right-to-left.

P.S. Be sure and come back to visit if and when you have actually done your "homework" assignment.
Otherwise, just continue to argue with Tony, who also knows very little in regards to the factual evidence, as my patience is wearing quite thin with "wannabe" researchers.
P.P.S. You did notice, did you not, that the Warren Commission (which appears to be your limits of research) also indicated that the 6mm X 15mm elongated wound of entry to the back of the head of JFK also applied to the penetration through the skull?
P.P.P.S. One of the autopsy photographs (I believe it is #44) shows the bullet entry penetration into the EOP interior region of he skull after removal of the brain.
The better versions of this photograph also show a ruler being held at the EOP entry into the rear of the skull.
Wanna attempt to get a correct answer and take a guess as to exactly what the autopsy surgeons were measuring with this ruler?????
