Lyndon Baines Johnson won the 1964 US Presidential Election in a landslide.

President Lyndon B. Johnson famously invoked the pledge in his March 31, 1968, national address announcing that he would not seek a second full term, saying "I shall not seek, and I will not accept, the nomination of my party for another term as your president.

I don't fully understand why he would give up power.

He was sick and tired of the Vietnam War and saw no way out.

Then HE shouldn't have started it!  How do you think the grunts in the WAR felt?  When did they get a break?  NOT for many more years after this!  Some guy huh? He starts a war and then "can't take it" and leaves the fighting men there without a care.

Then some people have doubts about him being involved in the JFK murder?

Fact:  LBJ did not "start it".  Rob, the errors are starting to add up.

Mitch.

In my humble opinion, the powers that be, told LBJ to step down.  As a result, Bobby Kennedy, could then be murdered by a lone gunman, and be forever taken out of the "Picture."

After all, how would it look if LBJ had gained the Presidency twice, by the "Untimely death's," of two Kennedy's.

In other words, LBJ left, because "Bobby," had to go.

rofl Fantasy land nonesense. Yeah they couldn't take RFK out if he was just a Senator huh.  Talked about a paranoud and rediculous world view.

Brian:  Ouch!!!  That really stings---I think you mean---Paranoid and Ridiculous.

World view of 1968--includes Vietnam, and the power to stop it---as President, RFK, would then have the Power to do something about---JFK's untimely demise.

Michael

Here we go again. No matter how many times RFK said he believd that Oswald did it alone CT keeps denying it.

Ted Kennedy wrote a book that came out aftre he died where he said RFK thought Oswald did it alone.  But the nuts don't want to believe it so they just ignore it.

I am calm. I can't type, and on my computer I can't even see what I type while I am writing. Something wrong.

I stated FACTS there. In your search for the truth you should want allthe facts you can get. You should be thanking me for pointing this out to you.

Who "started" it Bill?  It was NOT a war when JFK was in office.   How would you know things are adding up when you can't add?

The Kennedys said one thing in public and another in private.  Either way, their OPINION carries no more weight than YOURS!  But at least they said theirs coherently!
