It's hard to explain to our friends across the Pond what this sports moment meant -- to an outsider it's just a guy hitting a white ball with a stick. But Bobby Thompson's home run was the exclamation point to a dramatic season that had the Giants behind by a wide margin before an epic winning streak. It was a once in a lifetime moment that electrified New York.

Bobby Thompson died yesterday at 86.
