I've been wondering about Oswald carrying his pistol on the afternoon of the 22nd after he left the TSBD...Why did he allegedly go straight back to his room to pick up his pistol? The assassination had only just taken place - did he think the police would be looking to pick him up so soon - maybe he knew the M-C would be traced back to him that quickly? Or did he think someone else would be coming after him?

Hi Denis,
Yes, I realise it's all conjecture regarding Oswald picking up his pistol - I thought this was something to think on. As far as I can gather, Oswald was working that day wearing a white tee-shirt (cannot recall who said it but someone said he normally removed his shirt and worked in a tee-shirt and Reid also said that, as far as whe could remember, he was wearing a white tee-shirt when she saw him walking through the office after the assassination - I know, it doesn't tally with the descriptions by Baker & Truly - yet another question mark) - so could he have hidden the pistol? Not forgetting also that his jacket was apparently found in the 1st floor lunchroom.

No problem Denis...
I'm not sure Earlene Roberts was that reliable a witness either, just check out what her own sister (Bertha Cheek) and the Johnsons say about her - seems that she was fond of making up stories and liked a bit of attention....

Yes, apparently Roberts was partially blind and she was still fiddling with the TV, trying to get a decent picture when Oswald supposedly came into the house which is why she didn't pay much attention to him...

Or why did he NOT simply carry it to work with him? Didn't he think he would need it after "shooting the president'? It would be easy to carry a pistol in secrecy than a rifle.

Hi Ian, it's really only conjecture that Oswald picked up the gun from his boarding house, it's just as possible that Oswald already had the weapon whilst in the TSBD, remember he wasn't searched by the police officer that found him in the canteen. The police were already looking for Oswald before he got to his boarding house. A general description of Oswald had already been circulated due to the fact he was discovered missing from work, which was why ALLEGEDLY he was stopped by Tippit. Denis.
...it's just as possible that Oswald already had the weapon whilst in the TSBD,..Of course there is NO evidence to support this conclusion. Perhaps he was handed a pistol by Ruby in front of the TSBD? See, I can play this game too!

Common sense says that if he was taking a rifle to work, he'd take the pistol too.
One could deduce that he did not take a rifle, and therefore did not take a pistol either.
One could further deduce that he retrieved the pistol because he felt he might be in danger.

I'd like to see you back up your claims with some proof. You think the police were already looking specifically for Oswald before 1:00? How did they pass along those orders? Word of mouth, cell phone, smoke signals? Show me on the DPD radio transcripts the exact message that included Oswald's name and the time of the transmission. The only one who should have gone home and gotten a revolver because the police put out an APB on him was Givens. There was no APB on Oswald. Only general descriptions of the shooter. Guess who fit those descriptions best? Billy Lovelady, but they didn't arrest him for the assassination. Oswald was arrested ONLY for the shooting of officer Tippit. While he was sitting in the homicide office of the DPD a cop came in and said that were looking for a guy named Oswald for the assassination.
